There are some that I think you should try. They don't have anything like that and can have great characters, plot, etc.

I'm sure there is some i would like, but the Internet keeps feeding me images like that, and it gets harder and harder to take it seriously. If you've got some suggestions, feel free.

I'll do it via PM, so we don't make this thread offtopic.

Right, I point people to anime like Moribito, Rainbow, Darker than Black or even Grave of the Fireflies and the like when they start getting stupid about painting all anime with the same brush.

It's like saying all live action TV is the same.

Cowboy Bebop is my favorite, though there's some significant fan service elements there too. Nothing like what's going on in that gif, though.

You wouldn't be wrong to start with nearly every last bit of Studio Ghibli's canon if you haven't seen any of it, Akrabra. It includes Grave of the Fireflies mentioned by Puddi up top.

It's some of the most tragic, beautiful, life affirming stuff in the world. If I had to name my favorite director, it's Hayao Miyazaki. No hesitation. And that's not favorite anime director or anything - just favorite director, full stop.

Back on topic, I'm genuinely surprised that "coccyx" doesn't get moderated on this silly forum.

Also, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are among my favorite films of all time, anime or otherwise.

I would have thought more styles of hair pulled pack into a bun or tail would have been available, yes.

Edit:  I wonder if clipping was an issue?

Technical issues probably were part of the problem, because early on Bioware released character models for DA:I that had long braided hair.

Needing also to be designed for old console hardware also probably didn't help. That said technical issues couldn't have been entirely to blame for the lack of decent options, because Bioware could have included a lot of short options where the character's had their hair tied up in some way. Instead they opted for a large variety of shaved, balding, and partially shaved.

That's because they're among the best films ever made, but holy dammit I can't overstate how excellent Spirited Away is.

If you feel you're overdue for a good cry, Akrabra, like deep hearty sobbing, watch Grave of the Fireflies or Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind.

Depends really what kind of aesthetics, anime can have quite different styles. Overall I think ME:A should follow art style of ME1-3, but with improvements of course.

Everything can be improved by following one pieces art style at least pre new world. His art has an amazing energy to it. Went to fan servicey after the 2 year time jump.

Like other said Ghibli movies are great and pretty much fanservice free, but I have to admit that lot of my fav anime's have quite blatant fanservice. It's not something I enjoy, but something I try to ignore ^^

Oda is great artist, but I don't really know how his style could be corporated with ME. His style is quite comedic and he likes to exaggerate things. Personally I think his work has always been pretty fanservicey, but it got out of hand after time jump ^^;

Free is pretty funny. But I believe it's raison d'etre is fan service, at least to some extent.

I'm less invested in anime series than I used to be, but my better half is still pretty into it and there are a few series we've knocked back together that I wouldn't have checked out on my own. Free was good, Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi was good, Ouran High School Host Club was fun (it had a lot of heart), but the greatest surprise was a show called Princess Tutu. Yeah, yeah the name. I know. But to sum up:

Spoiler

It was... Pretty badass.

Free! is 100% fan service from start to finish, it was never meant to be a show just an ad for the animation studio.

I dropped a o on the to so I agree there was always fan service it just went too fan servicey.

While I wouldn't copy his style for ME I think they should emulate some of his imaginative flair.

Ponyo is The Little Mermaid. Nicer than Disney's version, as well, I think.

I don't think it's the best, but it's also a film for very small children, significantly moreso than any of the others. I don't think that marks him as a hack, taking into consideration the entirety of his oeuvre.

Well not quite, the first half of seasons seemed to have more fanservice and more comedy (I think most of the fanservice was for comedy) and second half more slice of life and drama.

True.. it's not maybe as blatant as panty-shots and ******-to-the-face, but it was still quite annoying.
