On a more serious note, I do support more esoteric style of piloting for future games. A pilot just sitting in the cockpit at the front of the ship pressing buttons like a modern jetliner is so... ordinary. I want more sci fi.

Sitting or standing in a VR room or such, synced with the ship and lying visibly unconscious in a pod, things like that.

It may not immediately convey "pilot" visually but that dissonance is a useful feature in and of itself if you want people to go "whoa, future!" I think.

I think being fairly "ordinary" is part of the Mass Effect aesthetic. That's why we've mostly got recognizable guns and not phasers.

"Ordinary", much like "generic" is just another word for boring. Realism and flair can go hand in hand.

Well, it wasn't my word. But I don't think adding wacky sci-fi stuff just for the sake of being weird is a good idea, at least not for the Alliance. The Alliance is supposed to be familiar and comfortable.

If we were on an alien ship it'd different.

*snip

The most significant things I’d like to see in Andromeda’s design are:

Sleek and customizable armor options, with a wide range of color options and a choice between a matte or glossy metallic finish.

*snip

Please share any particular hopes you have for the look of Andromeda, however broad or minor. Thank you!

This, and to ad to that, the option of having some kind of 'paint brush', so we can paint our own colors on the armor parts. Maybe even write our own names on it. How cool would it be to have those nice looking armors, and be able to paint every single piece of it to our own liking..

Although i doubt it would happen, some people might think of less friendly patterns and symbols to draw. But one can dream and hope ;)

I can think of a few symbols I'd like emblazoned on my armor...

I'd like to see that too. Choosing the colors for the armor in the trilogy did provide some fun customization for the player. I'm hoping with Andromeda maybe they'll expand on it or something, like you mentioned maybe with a paint brush.

A more advanced personalization system would fabulous. What I would love is if we somehow were able to select a core visual motif for our protagonist.

Again, referencing DAI, you have the snake designs for Dorian, the Maleficent look for Vivienne, the shabby style for Cole. It makes sense the protagonist usually ends up with the most...classic look, but that always means that theirs is the least individualistic as well. The Pathfinder might be under regulations to fit a certain uniform, but if they aren't, then being able to select a default personal style would be amazing.

I've thought of a way I'd like them to implement visible cybernetic enhancements and have give them practical benefit in the game.

There should actually be a kind of shop for it (maybe right next to the tattoo parlor we should definitely have?) where we can pick out a cybernetic enhancement that will actually offer a perk, i.e. +x to damage of biotic charge. You could pick your perk and the look/placement of your enhancement. Any thoughts?

Something similar to this as light armor could be cool:

The only details I'd change would be to make the chest armor look to be made of a sturdier material, and to extend it down to cover the abdomen.

I keep going back and looking at this, Han. Just because I like it so much. I'd love to have something similar to that armor.

I wouldn't have having the cute little robot, either.

Indeed they can. :)

I like this idea, but unfortunately I don't really have a whole lot to add to it. Maybe you could have a system where some enhancements confer certain benefits and also disadvantages in other areas, so there's a balancing act in terms of deciding what to get. Also, I tend to get bored with passive bonuses, but on the other hand, you may not want this mechanic to dominate the game, so I'm not yet sure how I would weigh those considerations.

I kind of dig his head gear, too.

On that note I'd like to see some more head gear options besides helmets and goggles.

Is that a serious question or sarcasm?

My detector is on the fritz.

Not sure where the art is from, if that wasn't snark.

Nope, no sarcasm today, the... flamboyant hair and piercing made me think of Shadowrun for whatever reason...

I'm not really sure how it could work for anything other than a passive bonus, but I'm still brainstorming a little. My biggest hope, if they ever did something like this, would be that we could pick the perk independently of the cybernetic design we choose. Too often is games, the best looking gear is crippled by overspecialization or being set at a certain level.

...I kept using the Sanguine rose staff in Skyrim a long time after I was able to conjure my own Daedra, because I liked it.

I wasn't a big proponent of the need for new, different headgear before, but I am now. This is gorgeous.

I thought it looks like shadowrun too, but I stumbled across it on pinterest. Not sure where it came from originally.

The watermark is for a Spanish publisher. It looks like it might have been cover art or something from a comic they publish.

Clearly Mass Effect: Andromeda needs more bad ass characters and metal music like Ken's Rage

So a game I really liked the aesthetics of and I feel is kind of applicable to ME:A is Deserts of Kharak.

In particular:

The love of heavy machinery and rugged science feel of the vehicle designs.

The use of extreme long shots and maps to convey the sense of movement in a long journey.

The blending of multiple cultural influences into something that feels distant and unique yet familiar.

Vast open spaces being used to frame the small scale yet important action.

Also airstrikes on tap would be nice.

The game itself is pretty okay if you're into Real Time Strategy as well.
