My perfect synthetic companion would be a little like Vision in Age of Ultron, so I could maybe see it fitting that.

While the picture of the faceless synthetic is interesting, i assume you'd need some way of that facial membrane reacting differently during speech for example.

Would the character instead of TIM be known as TIS(The Illusive Snake)? It even makes a hissing sound when you say it. TISssss.

I do see where you're coming from, but I think it might be kinda neat to have the other person's face reflected back to them while they're speaking to it.
My point was more that already they are unable to reach that point, and PC graphics are just going to continue their remorseless advance.
Anyway, RotTR continues to impress with both its level and art/lighting design:

Comparing it to DA:I - which had a similar level of ruins etc - I just find this a whole lot more believable and well constructed as a series of connected areas. DA:I felt like each area was completely divorced from its neighbour, when though they are supposed to eb part of the same country. Plus, most of the areas we really dull and felt like created places, rather than real places. There are a lot of environmental details in RotTR which help to make each location feel like a real place. Hopefully ME:A will have the same.
Plus Lara is still a badass.

one final thing to note is that graphics etc aside, I haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time. It's interesting to note that there are a lot of similar elements between this and DA:I (and potentially ME:A) - crafting, semi open world, fetch style quests and collectables.
The difference here is that there is a point to some of these in RoTR (in expanding lore / story, collecting materials for upgrades that actually have a real impact), and the actual act of getting them - exploration, traversal, route finding etc is actually really good and makes the process a pleasure to do.
Don't get me wrong, the plot is bobbins and the voice acting can be risible at times, but that's a minor gripe. Given that the majority of time is spent - like in DA:I, and potentially ME:A - shooting and exploring, getting these things right is key to make the game fun.

I think the main thing with the Batarians is that their eyes were just black pits. A batarian can't look askance at you, for instance, because he always just seems to be looking in the same direction. Look how expressive Legion was able to be just by moving those panels around his eye; that's a big part of character design IMO, and the Batarians were lacking in that department.

Although, I think that might not be a bad thing when it comes to Batarians. It makes them seem more alien (and, ahem, alienating), and that seems to be what they were going for.
That figure above comes across as both eerie and beautiful to me. Exactly what I want from an alien design. If they had a look that was a little less like two heads were just shoved one on top of the other, it could be more of an design advantage than a drawback.

I haven't read through the entire thread, cause it's way too long, so I don't know if it's been discussed or mentioned before but I would really like to see nicer looking armor. Something more feminine for the women. I know we're supposed to be soldiers and I don't expect a catsuit armor or the like but something a little more woman like could still be done while still maintaining the look of a respectable soldier etc.
