That one is my favourite, combining the sleek bodysuit type armour, with the danger of whateverthehell that thing is. It's by Abiogenisis on DeviantArt and it's called "The lord and the colonel" or sth.

It would be cool if the stars got some love this time around, rather than just the planets. Particularly if they're visible from the ship...
Holy crap, that's hypnotizing.

Only tangentially related, but I absolutely love the whole process of jumping through hyperspace in Elite: Dangerous--and a big part of that is the sight that greets you at the end.

Hmm.

The first two are just pretty, but that last one could make some cool casual clothing.

These are great. The first one would fit a police unit really well, second would be ideal for some sort of mercenary type - bulkier and slightly more menacing than regular Alliance soldiers, and the third should be a mandatory type of outfit for a ship's crew and great for any situation where you don't want to flaunt your military affiliation but still need protection.
The alien in your fourth picture is Shrike, btw, and the human is Colonel Cassad from Hyperion series of sci-fi books.

Here's a few of my picks. I think the armor we've seen from the trailer for ME:A looks pretty great but these are are some great alternative styles Imo.
First this one's from the artist Wojtek Fus;

It already has a mass effect feel to it with how the armor and environment looks.
Then I've taken one by Johnson Ting;
Love the skull hologram effect on the visor, it'd be cool if we could have that or similar visor overlays in andromeda.
And finally Gabriel by Dan Luvisi.

I like the slightly informal setting here as well as the overall design. This is an artwork about a character written by the artist himself, so go check him out if you're interested, as well as the other guys here.

Are they any good? Sounds interesting.
Depends, do you like weird / spiritual Sci-Fi? If yes, than maybe. I didn't particularly like it.

Hyperion is a great book. The plot: "On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all. On the eve of Armageddon, with the entire galaxy at war, seven pilgrims set forth on a final voyage to Hyperion seeking the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives. Each carries a desperate hope--and a terrible secret. And one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands" (thanks, Amazon).
The best part of the book is the different types of sci-fi stories the author can come up to. Every pilgrim has their own story, the reason that explains why they are risking so much going in that final voyage.
For example, you have a futuristic missionary into a savage planet, you have a soldier who has strange experiences in a simulator of the different historical wars, you have a female detective investigating the dead of a robot... and she was hired for THAT dead robot... you have a poet who is the incarnation of Tyrion Lannister (oh, Silenus, you damn bastard...) and a father which has lost his daughter in a very particular way...
A very good book if you like sci-fi meets XX century literature ![]()

Have we done a lot with space ships yet? Here are a couple really cool images from a concept artist named Angel Alonso; I just realized that none of these ships are actually in space, but oh well:

Ship-wise, I'd like something like the SRF-003 Calnus from Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

I like the art here but the design seems a bit too overused with the usual commonly used styling of pointed front with side wings. I'd like to see a bit more of an unorthodox designing when it comes to spaceships though.

I agree that some of the alien ships should have unorthodox designs, but I don't think our ship should since it was almost certainly made by the Alliance and/or the Council so should look familiar to the ships we've seen so far. Plus having a sense of familiarity helps with connecting to something. Same reason why with the aliens have human qualities. That's why with ships in science fiction tend to either look like real aircraft, spacecraft, or naval vessels.

The Asari and Salarians don't have the same style as the alliance anyway, even The Turian style is different (even if less so).
But that's not a good enough reason anyway, cars today may have many features in common, but we still have different designs all the time.
There are different influences here, and probably designers from different species, that's enough to create a new and refreshing style.
