Frostbite is a very powerful engine.
With a little bit of modding, you can get this

Good graphics and design can really help build atmosphere.

My god that looks beautiful... haha when I have money I'll buy myself a Playtation 4 and buy that game! x

Eh, it probably wouldn't look quite as nice inside if we were to construct an actual, working version, but NASA seem to think the basic concept is sound:

Besides, with sufficiently advanced technobabble, anything is possible.

It won't look like that on PS4. PS4 is only 1080p and MUCH less powerful than a high-end gaming PC.

Like killroy said, ps4 only gets you full hd (1080 pixels) while the gameplay shown is at 4k (2160p) and 60 fps. And the difference is Huge! Pc also has the option of being able to mod the game to load better textures so that it can look even better than was originally intended. So if you like pretty visuals, pc is the way to go Imo.

Also I'm sure you know this but don't buy a game just because it's pretty. Check out the ratings and gameplay to see whether you'll like it before actually buying it. I say this because I've had some friends preorder a game based on how pretty it looked, only to realize they hate the way it plays.

Killzone has bad aesthetic design?! I know aesthetic is subject to taste but I felt like Killzone had some of the best aesthetics for a futuristic shooter.

Don't complain to me. I didn't make the video. I was just drawing attention to the fact that aesthetics and graphics are different things.

Which is why Mass Effect 1 remains one of the loveliest game of its generation (or of any generation).

I had thought of posting the third one in my last post about spaceships but it was too crowded. The last one definitely has a mass effect vibe to it and those aliens are great as well! Off to deviantart to ogle at the rest of their works!

So there's lots of CC related threads turning up, and of course I wish we could get more of those questions and speculation in here. For starters, where do you guys fall on prioritizing body sliders vs. cinematic content? Would you be willing to sacrifice cut scenes for the sake of a wider range of body type options?

The lack of cinematic dialogue was one of the complaints I had with DA:I, so I could definitely do without the body sliders. Cutscenes and cinematic dialogue are more likely to get me immersed in the story than additional CC options. Varying body sizes might be a nice extra I suppose, but not something the should devs make cuts to accommodate.

Nah, not in ME. I'll go along with it in Dragon Age just 'cause I'd hate to lose the race selection options again, but I'm not so fussed about being able to vary my human character's height in Mass Effect that I'd sacrifice cinematics*. That doesn't mean I don't want to be able to vary up muscle mass and proportions though, either through a body slider - a la Saint's Row or Fallout 4 - or just some presets if that'd be too time-consuming to implement. No more skinny-arms Shepard for me!

*That said, I genuinely don't think I'd have had nearly as much of a problem with the non-cinematic dialogue in DA if they'd just pulled the view in a little closer. Having to rotate the camera around and get it stuck on some scenery to get a look at the NPC's face just felt clunky, and it's not like the repeating pre-canned body animations look any better from a distance. The whole cinematic/non-cinematic divide would've been much less noticeable - or at least less irritating - if we'd been able to zoom the camera in a little further.

I prefer more choices but if it means limiting the extent of those choices for cinematic content, i'd be fine with that.

i'd sacrifice some cutscene content for a muscle slider but not as much as DAI did.

Yes. I'd happily give up cutscenes for body customization.

As far as the CC goes I'd just be happy with hair that looks human. Baby steps!

DA:I's CC was actually good, other than the hair options, which were somehow worse than what is usual for Bioware CCs.

There were like 5 different styles of bald hair. The CC for Inquisition was definitely a step in the right direction, just a few little things that can be improved on.

The biggest problem with DA:I's CC was that all those buzz cuts ended up being used for NPCs. While the Furiosa vibe worked well for a character like Clarel who kills darkspawn for a living, it was not a good fit for pampered Orlesian noblewomen. It also was at odds with how Val Royeuax was described as Thedas' fashion capital or Leliana's dialogue about Orlesian noblewomen being fond of elaborate hairstyles.

The character design for TW3's Blood and Wine looks like is doing a better job with that game's medieval / Renaissance France expy:

10cn4ub.jpg

Those women look a bit closer to how the highborn ladies of Val Royeaux were described.

Hopefully Andromeda does a better job with character design. Good character design tells a story just as much as dialogue or codex entries do.
