Sure, but that would also defeat the purpose of their creation.
I'm not sure what you mean? Is there a historic civilisation they were supposed to represent that forced them to be so humanoid?

^ The middle one looks cool. I also remember seeing another cool design awhile ago on Deviant Art.
There's a good number of decent concepts floating around out there--and I'm sure BioWare's character designers could come up with something decent if they put their heads together.
The middle one's probably my favourite of all the ideas I've seen... Even if I have to admit that I do actually sorta like 'purple-ish human with big eyes' up the top, there.

No, it's simply that I vaguely remember that someone from Bioware explained that they were designed to appeal to the ladies as a LI.
If you did support the redesigning of one of the MW species, which would it be? ("If," being the keyword. I'm well aware a lot of people would oppose a redesign of any kind.)
I'd go with Batarians.
I'd say give a lot more diversity to all the alien species like for example turians having more fringe/mandible types, color etc although they have already done a great job with the variety of tattoos. I'd like to see more designs like the original concept of Saren;

Also more diverse head gear and face types perhaps like these original concepts;

For batarians, perhaps different head shapes and eye types with maybe not everyone looking like a space pirate? They do have potential though, saw this cool art on deviantart a while back.
Don't mind the new asari design all that much although I think it's too soon to conclude that all asari will be designed in a similar vein. The krogan seem pretty much the same from the trailers. Frostbite will probably have universally better textures and detailing for its characters though.

Oh, fair enough.

Never seen a Batarian look so damn good.

I may have come to the convo a bit late but you guys are still chatting so here's my two'penneth... although to be fair most of this has already been said...
Totally want more space to look at and the engine can certainly deliver and for immersion that would be awesome, I want to enjoy flying through space, finding planets/moon/other cool stuff that lives in space!!! and like many of you I also took time to look at any views, few that they were, that were offered
And of course if this is about exploration then yes varied and well developed planets/moons with lots of un-earth'like vegitation and types of buildings (for indigenous settlements etc.)
Variety of how NPC's look and I think that also playing into the comments about more off duty options for clothing both for our char and our squad mates/crew.. again it all adds to the immersion and will flesh out the 'universe' that we are being encouraged to 'explore' and discover - will get old quick if its too much rinse and repeat
Love the idea of a more realistic scruffy, showing damage on armor and bodies (scars) and that kind of stuff again to stop it all feeling too pristine (and yeah the comment about BSG and that awesome ship)
Unfortunately I think as we are starting a mission especially crafted/built we will probably start fairly tidy with new kit but as the mission goes on and maybe as we find local/Andromeda stuff more effective than our 'issued' kit we may start to mix and match (I believe they've said the armor system will be more modular than previously)
Love cyberpunk so maybe a little of that and implants def because we know we have them, Shepard was full of them on the inside...
Finally, and without wanting to promote any kind of non space discussion, on the breast plate stuff... well I just think that to be honest we are already moving in the direction of utilitarian designs for work gear and given this is also a fair amount of time in 'our' future we would be even closer to untilitarian (but perhaps more personalised) gear... off duty and non work dress of course can be whatever everyone wants and I mean as individuals or social/cultural groups... but hey its still a vid game being designed in 2016 so I'll just hope whatever is in isn't too distracting ![]()
And for some reason there was drinking??
I've been meaning to ask but is ME:A going to be VR ready? It's related to the thread as great landscapes and spacescapes will be even more important in VR

That popped up as a related image while I was searching for the Batarian concept art. I think it would make a good concept for female Drell, minus the eyes, which should probably be entirely black just like Thane's.
That is a pretty fantastic concept--shame we still don't know if Drell are even making the trip.
Thane did have an iris and pupils, but they blended in with his sclera so well that you could only see them under the right lighting/when he was doing his eidetic memory thing. I've always wondered if other Drell might have different iris colours, like humans.

Feron had green irises (both in game and in comic). Thane's wife, Irikah, also had different iris color. Sunset-colored, according to Thane. For me they looked more amber/hazel.

*shrugs* He never said it was an Earth sunset.

Huh, weird that I never noticed Feron's--and now that you mention it, I do remember him talking about Irkah's eyes like that.
Well, I suppose Drell can have different eye colours, then!

From the wiki:
With 90% of its surface covered by a vast ocean known as the Encompassing, Kahje is permanently enveloped in a blanket of clouds created by the heat from its energetic white star. Beneath that cloud cover, the planet's land area consists solely of small islands. Kahje's atmosphere is perfect for life; while containing some traces of ammonia, it consists primarily of oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen, similar to that on Earth.
So, I guess the biggest difference in sunset color would have to be due to the white star and the planet's distance from it. And I'm not sure what kind of difference (if any) that would make.

Am I wrong for not liking the neon signs? Just seems too..."Oh, the Andromedons do that the exact same way," for my liking. Though, admittedly, I don't know how I would handle luminescent signage any differently.
I am, however, very curious about the dragonfly wing-shaped plants(?) on the right. Those are cool!
How would you redesign them? Give them two eyes instead of four? Make them not jerks?
I wouldn't want them to look less bizarre. I'd just have liked it if they looked a little more elegantly strange, less like two faced squished one on top of the other.
I posted this a while ago on the same subject, but I still think I like the general idea. It's reminiscent of a spider, which helps it look both interesting and a little unsettling.
Someone pointed out that the all black iris & sclera on Batarians takes away from the expressiveness of their faces, but I'm not sure that's a problem when the goal with most Batarians when the goal is usually to make you (the player) feel averse to them.

The thing that atands out the most in that concept art isn't actually the building, but the giant mushroom trees in the background. That and the purple color makes me think of this other image:

Maybe it is the same planet?
Even though this is just concept art this is killing me. Q1 2017 feels so far away.
