I'd really like armor to show wear, grease, scoring, scratches and scuffs, torn material, basically have it functional but show the experiences of your adventures.
Maybe acid burns, chipped paint, impact points from projectiles, warping from energy weapons or something. Just add in minute details that show gear actually experiencing wear and tear.
Reminds me of Tomb Raider's hair and clothing changing bit according weather, like getting frosty or wet. I think that would be nice touch.

I liked Chiefs armor in Halo 3, you could see all the little scratches on his armor unlike the blury mess that Halo 4 was.
I'd like to see the female equivalent of James Vega ... this hardass, weightlifting, woman that takes no **** from anyone. I know a female Marine like that and she's AMAZING!

I really liked the fact that we wore casual clothes on the Citadel in ME3, even if the range of clothing was a bit 'meh'. Would've killed for that leather jacket on a femShep, and I didn't pre-order so no hoodie for me. But it was great being able to use casual clothing in general. I really missed that in DAI, especially being confined to beige hideousness in Skyhold for several months.
I'm not overly bothered about armour. I liked the way we pieced it together in ME3. Mostly, I'd just like light/medium/heavy options for the main character. Mandatory armour for companions in combat scenarios (clothing on a hub), and various options to choose from without paying for dlc. Helmets for everyone in appropriate scenarios. Otherwise a variety of headwear (I loved using visors).
Hopefully we'll get a bit of customisation for the ship too (if we get a smaller ship). Or even just our quarters, especially if there's lots of crew conversations based there. If we can't pick actual colours and items, perhaps we could pick an aesthetic theme for it?

This makes me think: I'd kinda like the idea of having more missions in which the character is out of their armor or uniform: Think something like the opening espionage stuff in Kasumi's mission, or the early parts of Citadel. I think it's a bit more organic to have at least a few situations where you enter combat without being fully prepared for it, or where you have to carry out a mission where wearing full battle armor would be inappropriate. It also adds to the sense that the success or failure of these missions is ultimately about the people, not the toys they have.
Anyways, that's my two cents on a topic that's tangentially related to what we're talking about here. Please continue posting cool pictures.
Now that I think about it, I could dig a mechanic suit or something similar. Bonus if it is possibly a bit dirty because I'd like to look the part if we start out as a grunt.

I'd like that, I'd like that a lot especially since it could be used to remove the usual indications that let's you know that you are going to be doing some fighting, thus increasing the chances of the player being taken by surprise and being unprepared. I think I'd love that.

I am a big fan of tiny minute details, really I am. I like armor, machines, weapons showing their age, signs of usage, one of the best modern examples of this I can think of off the top of my head? Unfortunately not in any video game but you have this in a LOT of the gear from the Zeonic Remnant forces in the late U.C period on earth, which given where you are stashing these weapons the tiny imperfections make sense.
A tiny patch of rust, a little bit of paint discoloring, scuffs, dings and repairs clearly visible upon these machines from some cases almost seventeen years ago and the newest being from almost a decade prior from another conflict. For those who don't know Zeon are the 'bad' guys from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, they are a space colony that is the farthest from the Earth. They fought a war against Earth in the year 0079, and are still actively engaging Earth upon occasion including incidents such as 0080 Terrorist Attacks or the 'Phantom Crisis', 0083 Operation's Stardust, the Neo Zeon War of U.C 0088, The Second Neo Zeon War of 0093 and the 0096 Laplace Incident. Basically picture them as tenacious, unrelenting and fierce...because despite several defeats, and even when they emerge victorious they generally all die to achieve it or face imprisonment, or are labeled terrorists.
Because despite all of that? They continue to fight, one generation into the next.
However in this case the gear you have in the attack in U.C 96 on the attack of Torrington Australia at the Federation base has been rotting on earth for the better part of at least a decade in the newer models a left over from the First Neo Zeon War, and it looks its age. You can tell these machines have been stored, hidden away and just recently reactivated for the planned attack of Eastern Australia.
But I am a very large fan of such visual detail in media, you can learn a lot about a machine, tool or weapon merely by looking at its visual and learn its story.
Despite never knowing who any of these pilots are save a few...you actually can learn about who they are by what they are piloting, which war they fought in, which battles they were present for, where they stored their suits in the years leading up today. All of this without even a word being spoken, seriously, I'd pay for detail like that outside of media like this.

I will be completely honest, despite playing that game like six times through the Campaign...I never did notice that, but good catch! I like the detail presented.
I'm kinda indifferent about it, on one hand I do like to wear armor mainly for aesthetics but on the other hand I do like to have armor that gives bonuses also
That's why I love the way the outfit designer in SWTOR works: I can have both!
It looks scratched, dented, dirty and worn. I'd love to have an armor set that looks like this and for it to be the same regardless of whether or not it is equipped by a female or male character.

What if the armor bonuses were dictated by different alloys we can make the armor out of, or reinforce it with?
The design scheme could stay the same, while different materials offer different benefits.
Yes, and without dictating what color the armor is. That was kind of obnoxious until they provided the tinting table.
Even with the tinting table, I'm still not a big fan of the DAI crafting system. I'm thinking that they should separate the different armor perks from the cosmetic aspects almost completely. The exception being the difference between heavy and light armor should be both practical and visual.

I also didn't like how the crafted armor was automatically the best armor in the game

Same. It took some of the fun out of looting once it got to the point that I knew everything I found, even the epic legendary stuff, would just end up all being sold.
On the other hand, I do think that it makes sense to be able to work toward a point where we can make some beyond fantastic stuff. It just came a bit too easy in DAI.

It'd be better if they was equal to the higher up loot at your level
