I would love to see something like the Scramblers from Peter Watts' novel Blindsight:

Imagine you're a scrambler.

 

Imagine you have intellect but no insight, agendas but no awareness. Your circuitry hums with strategies for survival and persistence, flexible, intelligent, even technological - but no other circuitry monitors it. You can think of anything, yet are conscious of nothing.

 

You can't imagine such a being can you? The term being doesn't even seem to apply, in some fundamental way you can't quite put your finger on.

Imagine that you encounter a signal. It is structured, and dense with information. It meets all the criteria of an intelligent transmission. Evolution and experience offer a variety of paths to follow, branch-points in the flowcharts that handle such input. Sometimes these signals come from conspecifics who have useful information to share, whose lives you'll defend according to the rules of kin selection. Sometimes they come from competitors or predators or other inimical entities that must be avoided or destroyed; in those cases, the information may prove of significant tactical value. Some signals may even arise from entities which, while not kin, can still serve as allies or symbionts in mutually beneficial pursuits. You can derive appropriate responses for any of these eventualities, and many others.

 

You decode the signals, and stumble:

There are no meaningful translations for these terms. They are needlessly recursive. They contain no usable intelligence, yet they are structured intelligently; there is no chance they could have arisen by chance.

 

The only explanation is that something has coded nonsense in a way that poses as a useful message; only after wasting time and effort does the deception become apparent. The signal functions to consume the resources of a recipient for zero payoff and reduced fitness. The signal is a virus.

 

Viruses do not arise from kin, symbionts, or other allies.

 

The signal is an attack.

 

And it's coming from right about there.

Most of us have our preferences, of course.  Personally,  I've come to terms with the fact that Andromeda is a new game, new chars in a new location, that is somewhat far into the future from Shep's time. I am looking forward to this game that will be properly ported to the PC: a game that takes advantage of the PC hardware with GUIs and menus and file saves.

 

On your ideas about:

 

1. Choices in previous games

Honestly, I believe a clean break is the best solution. Since it's taking place "..long past the events in the MW galaxy...", any reference to the events in the MW ought to be described in historical terms such as in school History classes and leave it at that. Let the game focus on the current Hero.

 

2. Story

Bio said it will be about the story of the new protagonist (human story) and new chars and the journey to greatness. Andromeda is not Mass Effect 4 and I don't expect it to be.

 

3. Companions and our Ship

It's possible that missions will be launched from the ARKCON. Also possible there will be no "Normandy" as such, The 1st teaser gives us a clue about star travel is employed and your surprise may be a new alien LI.... I expect it.

 

4. Combat

Bio already mentioned that combat will be similar to ME3. There may be a new mechanic for "leveling up"

 

8. What I really don't wanna see

No surprises if there are micro-transactions.  It appears to be quite the successful revenue stream for EA. Thus, the game may be designed to get Ultra Rare gear by paying $$ or just grind your way through..... and we all know how grinding works.  For me, if I can finish the game without the Ultra Rares.... I will be happy.  Those with money can select to pay to get into the Express Lane.
