You thought Shepard was stoic?I'd be very much down for someone less... rigid/uptight/stoic/whatever than Shepard.

@Sylvius the Mad: I think it's possible that Paragon Shepard showed stoic qualities... but yes, "rigid" and "uptight" are not actually stoic qualities.

The Mass Effect writers struggle with humor so I would prefer they not try to shoehorn a comedic and/or sarcastic personality onto the protagonist. The Citadel DLC supplied me with more Mass Effect "humor" than I ever wanted.
Well, Citadel is kind of an aberration - I still find that it works best for me if I imagine it as not taking place in the "real" Mass Effect universe. Most of my Shepards are either Controllers or Synthesizers, so I figure that it's either (1) a sort of "holodeck simulation" that ControlShep runs as a form of entertainment for itself or (2) a hallucination that Shepard experiences while jumping into the green beam. The whole thing has a very self-aware feel to it, as if the characters are purposely behaving like slight parodies of themselves. I don't think BW would try to maintain that tone for a prolonged stretch of the game (or at least I hope not).
In terms of sarcastic dialogue, I'd prefer to have it as an occasional option for the PC, along the lines of when Mikhailovich in ME1 says he's not happy and Shepard can reply, "I'm guessing that's a fairly common situation," but not part of any auto-dialogue.

How about predefined personalities like in DA2? the difference would be that you choose that at the beginning and then you get your usual wheel but with different dialogues...mmm nope, the more i think about it, the less i like it...but i could be surprised if they pull it off

It does have some afterlife feeling, but it also was good bye to the trilogy after all, and it was good at it. Despite some people trying too hard be serious in their games.

Certainly. There are more than three emotions actually, if devs forget about that - we'll get another Hawk.

I strongly agree with you and i think that there has to be an activity of some kind that you should be able to do with your squad when not doing missions. I suggested that in a ship like that and in a hostile enviroment like Andromeda, there has to be a pretty sweet bar in our "mothership" and in that bar: a karaoke! lol anyway, the point is that all work and no fun, makes Ryder a dull pathfinder

i struggle with the predefined personalities because you kinda have to go all out on either one of them or everything you say is a complete miss match with the rest, I much rather have a different system

Exactly how i feel about it but it's true that a MC with different way of acting would be a welcomed change. After all, most agree that Shepard was among the less interesting characters (good in it's own way, mind you!) but yes, there is that.

That he wasn't stoic was why I couldn't play him. I found ManShep to be aggressive to the point of being unhinged.Yep. Manshep anyway. And maybe more in delivery than content but still.
I like playing stoic characters. That's a big part of why I preferred the Inquisitor to Shepard.

The inquisitor was ok. Lacked the authority for me that I thought he should have. Shepard seemed to have the complete trust of his crew and even when he didn't he had the authority and nobody ever challenges that authority successfully.
The inquisitor seemed to be struggling to keep everyone on side. Their own opinions and feelings seemed to be more important to them than your orders (of course darling, sera and I are free spirits) Solas in particular irked me in this way but that makes sense in the end and you get it.
Need the unity myself.

Pre-Skyhold, the Inquisitor is more of a junior member of the team than the leader (which I really like - I don't like always being the leader), and after Skyhold the companions all have reasons to dissent. The inquisitor was ok. I actually really liked this about the Inquisitor's companions. I like that they can criticize and question decisions. That they have their own thoughts and convictions on things makes it more interesting, I think. More than that, I think it makes sense that this ragtag group is more divided in their convictions and motivations. This was somethjng I felt the ME2 group lacked considerably. You have this whacky bunch but they're all totally committed because they simply have to be, even though some may not have much reason to, like Jack, who will stick with Shepard even if she denies her access to the files she wants or doesn't help destroy the Pragia facility.

Jack actually makes the least sense of all of them as much as I love her. I think I prefer the fall in or don't bother signing up approach when it cones squaddies not that i wouldn't mind another wrex, inquisition was certainly a lot of fun though.

In the thread about customizing Ryder's room, we mentioned how could it would be really cool if Ryder could play an instrument. I think that it would make the character less dull, it would be his/hew own thing and it would add more depth. A harmonica (or a futuristic version of it) is winning so far and it sounds great! a portable instrument that maybe in the future will have some significance than what we can't imagine now ^^ perhaps it becomes a gift for the LI, perhaps it becomes a symbol like Shep's helmet...who knows? ^^ Anyway, i think it should be part of this thread so here i leave it. Do speak your mind about it and i'll carry the conclusions to the other thread. Feliz Navidad!/Merry Christmas! ^^
