As in subject which one is better nuker, dmg dealer? Your fav. builds?

In past 'bow mens' were stronger, long shot was stronger am I right?

Thanks for your advise.

Hunter (best IMO): Tezpadam's Bane, go into stealth. Get behind a group of enemies and full draw the weakest enemy.. Nuke the whole group with the explosion

Archer: long shot for aggro draw and lots of death. That's how I use it

Hunter build I use is stealth/LeapShot/ES/Spike trap
Hakkon bow

Stealth whenever you can, spike trap big groups. Use leaping shot from behind on priority targets. Explosive shot from stealth on large groups if spike trap is on cd, didn't kill them or you can't reach them in time.

The LS build only works if you have the Hakkon bow otherwise the crits are too weak. Archer builds are easy just make sure you have Opportunity Knocks an you can get away with anything else.

For my Hunter I make sure I get Stealth and Full Draw, the other two skills are just bonus.
Tezpadam's Bane for bow
1) Go stealth :bandit:
2) Get behind group of enemies
3) Full Draw weakest one
4) Laugh maniacally as they all die from the explosion

Archer: Long Shot, Leaping Shot, ES, Caltrops. All upgraded
Hakkon Bow
I just long shot everything to draw aggro away from the rest of the team. Enemies didn't really last too long xD

I also think about Hunter but I'm grateful for all opinions.

I have all top bows I think that top bow is better than Tezpadam's cuz it's shots x3, with crit. cd is really fast.

But you will have to live with that cooldown for full draw and stealth

5) If they don't die because you dont have 1000 promotes, try to run away

6) Get teabagged out of existence

Yeah don't listen to Bruh on this. He has way too many promotes that he will just 1 shot everything with whatever bow or build he use...

That is fine. My auto attacks were always very strong lol.

This is precisely the reason why...

Trust me Tezpadam's Bane with full draw is so much carnage

Archer is definitely better as a damage dealer.

Opportunity knocks + leap shot = profit.

Opportunity knocks + explosive shot = profit.

Opportunity knocks + long shot = suicide.

Opportunity knocks + long shot + 1000 promotes = profit.

Opportunity knocks + Spike traps = profit.

Here. This is archer for you by definition.

Hunter = Archer + Cool down + Stealth.

Silent Sister = Hunter - Cool down + damage + survivability = Archer + survivability + damage + throwing blade.

Throwing blade = Damage.

Hence:

Silent Sister = Archer + survivability + damage + damage = Carnage.

I have tried that exact build, and let me tell you what happened 90% of the time....   stealth... aim at the weakest target.... full draw... 2 seconds later it fires... the target is either already dead (kill by someone else) or moved out of sight.   Now you are visible with stealth on cool down for another 10+ sec...

After I got my hunter to 20 with that build.. I got so sick of full draw that I am not going to take it ever again! LOL :P

Both are fantabulous.  Too bad I am working on other classes now and have not played them in a while.  Tremendous fun.

Spike trap and leaping shot are the big staples for me.

I play them both quite the same, though that wasn't initially the case. My current standard builds for both are:

Hunter
- Upgraded Stealth
- Spike Trap (with Set Them Up passive)
- Upgraded Elemental Mines
- Leaping Shot

I always take On The Razors Edge, since this build is a close up bowman. I use the Hakkon and usually the Spike Trap ring and Leaping Shot ring. Since no PI here, i either use Renewal or Stamina amulet. If I get into some trouble health wise, I go into stealth, drop a couple of ST's (since that doesn't break stealth), and get some HoK back.

Archer
- Upgraded Caltrops (self rez, anyone? ;) )
- Upgraded Explosive Shot
- Spike Trap
- Leaping Shot

Always take Opportunity Knocks. Someone in most of the groups I run with, is always critting. Hakkon Bow and I mix rings up for different runs. Again, I play him pretty close range, but the Caltrops really do help, anf LS does great damage and gets you away from some trouble.

Just my current way to build these two, and seriously fun...at least for me. B)

Great stuff

Only thing I will add is that you may want to use Fall Back plan if you lack HOK or need added survivability on the Archer. Due to opportunity knocks you can pretty much have it up at all times.

I would recommend heading for cheapshot on the Hunter, even if you don't want to use throwing blades, if you intend to play Nightmare.

Archer spamming spike trap is very OP.

I never loved caltrops to be honest. The damage is no where near that of spike trap. (And if you take spike trap, why caltrops as well? Whenever you drop caltrops, just drop spike trap instead.)

If you have difficulties managing health / aggro, try fall back plan. I used to love this ability a lot. I tend to plant one before engaging a group of mobs, then fallback once i lose some health and immediately plant another one. Also it can act as a great aggro dump if you can teleport out of their line of sight.

When fighting dragons, I plant one right next to him and spam leap shot. When I fly too far away I can just teleport myself back in.

Lol we were thinking exactly the same.

Throwing blade is great, but too bad hunter don't have flow of battle like Silent Sister...

Easy!
Go stealth and you get that speed boost. Everyone will be busy fighting the first group they run across so you can run ahead

I do use HoK, on my Hakkon (since I only recently got the Superb HoK ring...think DragonRacer  ), and I actually use FBP on occasion. For the Archer though - since I use choke points and litter the place with caltrops and traps - I am usually quite survivable. I often get self rez (most of the time), if I do go down, so long as I am over a certain level (the jacks are a bit paultry when below double digits in level :P ). BTW, I give full credit to @3y3vr3 for suggesting the Upgraded Caltrops, for this build. Now I absolutely love them.

I honestly can not remember if I take Cheap Shot normally or not, and I may in fact, don't. This is a great idea, and I will look at a bit of shuffling of passives. I have a few points, that I am usually pretty flexible on. I should see if I can make that work. Thank you. :)

As stated above, since I use choke points (I tend to play with a rather regular team, so we take advantage of certain party setups), I love having both. :D The traps do much greater damage, absolutely, but the jacks stay around for a while, continuing to make the enemies bleed (and some inevitably bleed out) and make great fodder for the rest of the teammates.

Awesome suggestion for FBP + LS, on the Dragon's. Will definitely play around with that. :)

The group I play with, does often use a barrier bot, for our NM runs. But we do run some without, and "Saarebot" can go down, so having a few tricks up one's sleeves for better survivability, is always a good plan. ;)

They are both ranged damage dealers using different techniques. Both have dps/avoidance specs. Archer for long/mid ranges, Hunter for short/mid. You don't have to read this walls of text which build is better, create your own.

In prepatched game choice was clear: LotG for Hunter, PbtM for Archer. After 1.09 any weapon you using is good as long as it's Hakkon's.
