I actually thought the gap from threatening to perilous was bigger. To go from routine to threatening, you pretty much just need to make T2 armors (or get drakescale) and a solid blue weapon and you are good to go. I know there are people who said you could do Perilous without promotion.. but it is for people with mad skills and/or already played thousands of matches and know the in and out of it. I think for us normal peons, it is next to impossible to do it without promotions. Now getting from Perilous to NM, it is a matter of getting in a good group or have a Saarebus for barrier. :P Well actually Saarebus would have made Perilous easy too, but I think most Saarebus in Perilous PUG don't do barrier.

Well someone new to the game wouldn't remember before everyone was all promoted to hell and there wasn't good armor and you actually had to think a little about your strategy and team comp. anymore there is always someone to carry but I remember playing in routine matches where we all had terrible weapons and no promotions and had to bring two keepers hehe.

The game is waaaay more streamlined than it used to be back in the Pre dragonslayer dark ages.

The gap used to be huge.

Clarifying from my above post (which comes off condescending). I agree that the gaps are pretty large but not as large as they were before.

I'll add it's a long slow climb to where you are overboard for perilous to where you are helpful in NM. It would be nice if there was an intermediary. As it turns out, it's easier to clear FC w/dragon rather than do the normal maps. So FC becomes the entry path for NM.

yup. For me those were the good old days. Perilous was the hardest thing ever and promotions/gear didn't really make much of a difference. We'd take the reliable 4 mages comps, run to the back of the map in the excitement of not getting hit then kill everything from there... Grinding promotions would take forever as well. (70 out of my 75 willpower promotes were grinded within first month of release in about 500 hours. now it would take less than :bandit:..)

Yeah I agree. With a reasonable team you can clear NM FC in less than 15 minutes. You need about 4 NM FC for a promote. So you can, in theory, grind a promote every hour.

I think 3.  The other night it was 1-16, 16-19, 19-20.  But it could be extra support xp or something.

Yup. Faster clear = lesser xp. And really, you couldn't count on someone brings a support kit when you play pugs...

Please elaborate about exp thing,
Whats the silver bronze and gold thing in the end of a match, is that the culprit behind more or less exp? , how to generate more support xp ? Did support xp generate when we hit a mob but other player last hit it?

Oh btw we need to play together again, i kinda miss your OPness :D

The medals are the only form of XP that is not shared between you and your teammates.  You get 100 XP for bronze, 200 XP for silver, and 300 XP for gold.

XP is generated through support (e.g. enemies hitting barriers, panicking enemies, revives), damage (self explanatory), and kills (also self explanatory).  You can maximize XP through having everyone hit every enemy at least once before it is killed, making sure every enemy has a chance to hit your barrier before someone kills it, and panic every enemy before you kill it.  Obviously if you go out of your way to makes sure these things happen to each and every enemy, then your game times will rise significantly, thus hampering your XP per hour.  I'm sure I missed some things, but that's about the gist of it.

Basically, use barrier, use abilities that panic, and don't let one person run ahead and Rambo everything.

Precisely this. That's why scrub lords ruin everyone's game because they waste all that xp... That's also the reason why scrub lords love barriers from Saarebas because even if they are being anti social and rush ahead killing everything, they still get the barrier and hence some support xp.

And I will combate this.
Waiting for all this to happen slows down the game, increases exp/game but not exp/hr. I flew through games and killed as much stuff as I could. It might shorten exp/game, only a little bit never made that big of a difference anyway, but by finishing then faster you could get more games in per hour. Thus, a promote in a shorter amount of time.
And before anyone says that is wrong, I pumped out alot of promotes daily before I stopped playing by doing just that, fast runs.
I never did it with blind killing. I would go about it in ways that are fast but effective, such as; Dragon Rage with a chance to cast fear, or Virtuoso with Power cord to dispel. Stuff like that

Actually, I don't really go out of my way to do any of those tips I gave.  I find enough enjoyment in the game to just play without worrying about the XP grind meta-game.

I also hate Saarebas barrier-bots.  Having people join while I am clearing zone 4, only to have them sit at the beginning and barrier-bot annoys me to no end.  Can't you see that I have this under control?  Worse still are people who have already played a game with me or my group, then switch to a barrier-bot Saarebas, because at least the person who joined mid-game didn't know what they were getting into exactly.

And Grappling Chain to pull those pesky outliers into War Horn range!

Hunter is more reliable for me. He has the Lantern that is a great way to get back your full health (if things aren't too chaotic on screen). And Stealth is a must for me (the bonus from attacking from Stealth + Leaping Shot is a life-saver on tough brutes).

Archer on Perilous has a problem getting things off of him. I finally decided on using: Full Shot, Leaping Evasion, Leaping Shot and Explosive Shot (all four upgraded) and can do well now. Things can get hairy sometimes, especially on Fereldan Castle and the Bolters, but he can hold his own without going down.

Those abilities all let the Archer to get out of harms way, and you always have one or two abilities "in the chamber" while the others are on cooldown. So even those rushing your Archer can be taken care of fast.
