Yeah, but what I was questioning is how this is a reward. Beside unbalancing the game in my favor, it makes loot less interesting. Of course, I wouldn't farm schematics in the first place. It's a reward for players who play the game again. Most people will only play the game once. Many people will not finish the game at all. The players like those of us on the forums who have multiple PTs with multiple characters to try out all of the options are in the minority. The Golden Nug is basically a reward for those players, and also an incentive to play again because you would still be able to use that nice rare schematic you farmed for.
Yes, PC players can download saves from people who have everything and load up their Golden Nug with all of those. But not all PC players are willing to do that -- I'm not. But those same PC players already had access to Cheat Engine to give them everything anyway, which is what I did long before the Golden Nug was added in. Or mods that change the content of stores.

Yes, to both; the Skyrim character does a lot of bow combat too, but that just clears out the mooks. Not much different except for the camera angle, as far as I can see. WASD movement, and stick enemies with the pointy end when in range. Though you've got a couple more toys to play with in DAI.
I take it your experience is different?
Absolutely and not really at the same time. Never mind the controls, I found the nature of combat to be much different. I played through Skyrim with both two-hander and shield on hard. It came natural and was comfortable and enjoyable. DAI melee was such futile pain I gave up immediately. I can hardly say I persevered.

I agree. Finding everything, looking everywhere, turning every stone, is IMO an obsolete gameplay element. And I think it was Morrowind that made it obsolete. Focus on what your character is motivated to do. Leave the rest, it's just environment.

Well, feelings are subjective, of course. I don't think I'm very good at either game, so it could be that I'm just not good enough to see that Skyrim's got better gameplay; if I'm actually concerned with all of my DAI PC's sword swings hitting, I'm probably in tac cam anyway.

But as far as overall control, I prefer DAI more. While Skyrim has possibly the best Archery mechanics I have used in CRPG's, the ability to control movement is more restrictive than that of any DA game, IMO.

Balance issues aside (not everyone cares about that), one of the nice things about it is that it enables you to use the schematics that you earned in the DLC, particularly the post-game DLC, in the main part of the game. You also don't necessarily have to farm. You could be one of those who got lucky with some drops, OR you just made a bunch of money farming and selling stuff, bought all of the schematics with your money, and don't want to go through the hassle of that again.
"Yay I got these great looking weapon and armor schematics in Trespasser! But the game is now over and I can't ever use them." You don't see how that's a fun thing?
Also, don't forget that a big part of having a certain schematic can be for appearance. I have a specific look I want my PC and friends to have. But, as you say, I don't want to be too overpowered, so I specifically craft T2 and T3 items with T1 materials at the start of the game so its a bit more even. In that case, for me it's about appearance only, and not being overpowered.

Don't get chain lightning. It sucks. Especially if you have friendly fire on, which you shouldn't if you're just starting out. Or, use the tactician's renewal amulet to take it out and put the skill point toward something better.
I don't agree at all. Have you tried it [chain lightning] with Static Cage?

I recently borrowed it from a friend after giving up on it when it first came out, its pretty good if you play it in small bursts and skip the shards.

My impression is that a lot of the supposed problems with Chain Lighting are from friendly fire issues. Though with Static Cage that shouldn't be a problem -- just keep the melee characters away from the cage.
