I often have these huge memory leaks (10gb+) when loading into a MP game and it immediately makes my computer unusable, which usually leads me to restart the whole thing. Does anyone have the same issue?

I did notice this when I played on my buddies laptop (has 8gb RAM)
It definitely does happen sometimes

Windows 8? I have Windows 7 and ~12gb of RAM, so good to know it's not OS-dependent. I also have a HDD for my pagefile so it completely wrecks my computer when it reaches 99% memory, and my low RAM amount doesn't help. I don't know if there's a way, but I'll try to see if I can put a hard limit on the memory DA:I can take. Say it shouldn't reach above 5GB in normal scenarios, then if there's a way to force a crash after it takes more than 5GB, something like that.

Also, it mostly happens the first time (cold launch) I load into a MP level. I can always load fine into the MP lobby though.

I never looked at the memory, but don't remember ever having the game unplayable.  Maybe when that happens, it does the CTD.....

I used to have memory leaks occasionally. Always on FC map. Game would start to hiccup and get more and more frequent until the game freezes up. At that point I have to reboot the whole system.

edit: There are two solutions that work:

Solution #1: Mem-f

It's a very lightweight tool that terminates a list of processes after a set commit charge

Here you see that I replicated the bug and it displayed the error. I set the commit charge limit as 14000mb (I have 14GB of RAM, 28GB if you include pagefile). When DA:I bugged and tried to leak all over the place, MEM-F automatically killed it (extremely) quickly and displayed the warning.

Solution #2

Use Kiwi process watcher OR Process lasso. Both allow you to set watchdog rules for DragonAgeInquisition.exe and terminate it after a commit charge threshold. These tools aren't free though.

In that case, then I don't think so.  But small mem leaks, I don't know.

I used to play this game on Windows 7, now Windows 10.

2500k, 8gb RAM, R9 280

Yes, I remember having a few problems rarely after playing the campaign a while back where it would get very slow with high (more like 3gb not 10gb) ram usage, but that was several patches ago.

Used to have a custom pagefile configured size from 400-2048mb, and only 400mb was ever allocated to my knowledge.  Changed it to 1024-2048 recently though.  That was due to not actually getting a dump when I got the "windows 10 playschool my first blue screen" after the last major update and it didn't save a dump file.
