Color me worried.
Don't worry. We already knew there would be multiplayer. That doesn't mean it will have no single player or good story.
Every time I think they couldn't possibly sink lower, they do.

I'm worried that it will affect the single player, the article itself (however credible it may be) implied that the multiplauer was at the forefront of the games design.
Not that I would complain if multiplayer assumed its rightful place but isn't that a clickbait site?
I bloody hope so.
Given the poor English in the rest of the article, it just seems like a wrongly phrased sentence to me, especially considering the lack of any even semi-related quote from BioWare.
Are they like stupid or something?
Multiplayer should be the last thing on the agenda.
(IF this is true)
What would be wrong with a multiplayer focus anyways?
It is like a certain segment of single player fans feel like they're entitled to being catered to.

Color me worried.
I see nowhere in that article where any Bioware employee said that. I see the writer of the article saying that.
Soo....
I am going to write my own article.
"Mass Effect will focus mainly on Quasar".
Quasar will be the main focus of Mass Effect. Win a lot and you can have money and pimp out the Mako.
Source. My arse, just like the article you posted. ![]()

If you have to ask this question, you are part of what is wrong with multiplayer.
All this article, from a dubious source, says is that the game will have multiplayer.
That's already obvious. What are you going on about?
Even if you were to believe this title word for word for some reason, had they meant that the game will be focused on multiplayer, the correct way to say it is "Mass Effect Andromeda will be a multiplayer-first game".
Don't extrapolate things that aren't there because they (or you for that matter) can't use English.

What is wrong with multiplayer? It gives one an opportunity to share the experience with friends. I know people are gunshy because of the ME3 experience that it was necessary to get the "best ending" in March 2012, but in reality that didn't matter much then, did it because all the endings were virtually identical except for the color of the explosions on your screen: you died, the relays exploded, and the Normandy crashed. If you played hours of multiplayer you may have gotten to take a gasp in the high EMS destroy ending.
After that ending, I was about to take the game back when I heard the rumor - they're writing a new ending! My entire attitude with ME3 was "Well at least there's multiplayer." I met some of my best XBox friends in ME3 multiplayer. I hope they have good multiplayer support for ME: Andromeda.
That said, my guess is that they're putting a good amount of time into ME: Andromeda campaign. Remember, it could be worse. It could be Activision running the show.

**** off with your "catering" bullshit. It's a singleplayer based franchise, you want Multiplayer to be the focu? Well then choose another franchise.
This article is a piece of crap. Outdated like the stone age.
Neither Michael Gamble nor Chris Wynn announced anything new(they even wrote Michael's name wrong lol)
All I've heard about multiplayer is the horde mode.
And we do that by having deep characters and a compelling story with choices that matter.
Thinks they've always had.
If you're trying to shade them, I hope you realize is they cannot possibly make a story and characters that everyone likes.
Still, I agree.
Edit: Just realized that this is a quote from the original author. If your intent was to quote it in response to the OP, I apologize bahaha ![]()
LOL is all I can say. This will be debunked very fast, and yes it seems to be click bait. It seems to be written by someone who's native language is not english or something.
"We're working to bring back some of that wonder and sense of exploration that we had in the original trilogy. And while we're making a next-gen title, we want to ensure that we're stepping our game up so that this isn't just Mass Effect with shiny new features. And we do that by having deep characters and a compelling story with choices that matter."Sound story focused enough to me.Wouldn't be surprised if the singleplayer gameplay would turn out to be bot matches on mp maps though, with story advancement and character interaction happening in between at base.
When has Mass Effect not had deep characters with compelling stories and the choices matter (as well as being more thought provoking)t han most other modern RPGs including anything from Bethesda or CDPR.
This meme that "Bioware can't write good games" needs to die fast, it's becoming an obnoxious circlejerk.

Everything. I already have MMO's with RPG elements I can play. MMO's with 25 man raids, 40 man raids a decade ago, and 40 on 40 PvP. What none of those do or do well is character development, story line.
Also "entitled"? Are you kidding me with this @$%#. What am I 5 years old and you are my parent?
This game has the Mass Effect tag on it. Mass Effect is about linear RPG's with SOME deviation, with heavy character development and storyline. I do not even want this being like DA:I. DA:I sucked compared to Mass Effect imo, and there are many people who feel the same way.
The only "open world" game I can even stand is Witcher 3. Multiplayer? It works in ME because it is a third person shooter. It being the core of the game? Heck no. If EA wants to do that, just make their own Destiny and without the Mass Effect tag. Not that I think Bioware would be stupid enough to do this with the ME franchise in the first place and I already said the article the OP linked is a JOKE.
PvP or pre-order cancelled.
Those horde-mode brats need to taste real MP.

I agree for the most part but the "linear" aspect is something I disagree with. Mass effect has always had a pretty freeflowing narrative

ME1 was rather linear (order didn't matter much) but ME2 and ME3 were remarkably non-linear.
Singleplayer dinosaurs are holding the industry back again.
Sad.

When people call Mass Effect a linear game they usually refer to the level design.
