Since I have a Mac I have to manually install every mod I want for my character's appearance, since I've done this before normally it goes smoothly but today is a mess.

The general gist of it is, I have multiple files compiled in one chargenmorph, the only file that appears in the game is "Hairstyle Day", even though I have only one chargenmorph in my entire computer, let alone in my override folder. I think somewhere I went wrong with my coding :C Would anyone be willing to take a look? It would mean the world to me!!!!

I can give you my chargen, then you can redo it and remove the ones you don't have? It won't let me post it here (too long), send me a message and I can email it to you.

As a fellow Mac user, I share your pain.  I just manually reinstalled Tucked Hair myself... fun times.

Anyway, what I would suggest is pasting the chargenmorphs (both your original and the one from the mod you're trying to install) into a tool like http://pastebin.com.  This lets you edit the code of your original file without editing the file itself, so it's easier to verify that your syntax is correct before you put it into your game.

(And if any cosmetics mod developers are reading this, I believe I speak for all Mac DA players when I say please ADD COMMENTS to your chargenmorph files that show where you added the resources!  Comments show up like this in an XML file:

<!-- Comment text here, e.g., "Tucked Hair for human male below" -->

If you're already doing this, or use a tool that does this automatically, you have the undying gratitude of every player who has to edit chargenmorphs manually and you will never know how much frustration you've saved them.)

[edit] Another thing that I find helps is to use an XML parser, such as Xcode, when you're editing the actual chargenmorph file to use in your game.  These programs are designed to read and format XML files automatically, which makes it easier to see where you are in the file so you don't accidentally put a hair for dwarf males in the category for elf females, for example.  Also, comments will show up in a different color, so if a mod maker uses them, they are easy to see.  Like so: (spoiler tagged for size)

I've been wanting to implement a similar idea but I didn't know if it would ruin the way things were applied in game, omg as soon as I get my chargenmorph sorted out I'm so doing this, and the pastebin thing! Luckily since I decided to start over from scratch with my mods nothing has been seriously ruined but it's beyond frustrating, ughhh. Downloading X-Code is the first thing on my to do list tomorrow! It's crazy hard doing all of this in a notepad app where everything is black.

and I can have a look if you like :D

Thank you, that would be just amazing!! Here it is :) I should note that my current mods are: Hairstyle Day, Barnzi's Facial Textures, PT's Vibrant Colors, CC's Extra Tints and Tones, Bidelle's Cosmetics, SJC's Skintones, and LOTC's Eye Colors. (Also, this could be my huge issue, but in the skins section I manually wrote out the codes for Barnzi's "Gemmed Up" skin textures in the skin's sections. I thought that mods labeled "Tool Set Only" meant like... things that just weren't easy to install via chargenmorph compilation, but now I'm not so sure?

Whenever I open the character creator all of Hairstyle Day shows up, but nothing else, except for a single bald preset head for every race? I'm beyond confused omg

Gosh thank you lovely! I miiiiight just take you up on that offer, but I'd like to see if mine is fixable yet, you're so sweet :)

Okay, let's have a look ..

The first thing which is different to the usual chargens is this:

<resource name="HM_CPS_P01.mop"></resource>

The last  </ resource>, I have coloured it red shouldn't be there. When you look at your Hairstyle Day entries you can see that they come without this "addition"...and those are the hairstyles or cosmetic mods which show up..soooooooooo... I think we have found the culprint.

I'm at work..so I can't test your chargen without the additional entries... but I think that could cause your problems. :)

Edit:

You can add "Only Toolset" labeled" mods to your chargenfile..it just means that you have to add the entries for your chargenfile by your own like you did..but again with the "ressource " addition :)

Editing manually the chargenfile is much better than to use a compiler.. maybe sometimes nerving but you will have a good overview and more insight how things work for Dragon Age. Since I'm playing DA:O I have always make my edits for the chargen manually.. so my eyes are used to look at those tiny lines ;D

A caveat - removing the </resource> means you may need to put a backslash between the closing quote and the previous bracket.  So for example, the entry above should read <resource name="HM_CPS_P01.mop"/>.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think this syntax tells the computer where one resource ends.  Although you could try just removing the </resource> and see if that solves the problem - like I said, I'm not 100% positive.

Actually, the space doesn't seem to be necessary, and I say this as someone who is editing her chargenmorph file for the third or is it fourth time in two days.  Yes, I am that crazy. *lol*
