Justicar is my instinctive answer.  When I played Mass Effect 2, I thought at the time that the justicars seemed like a sort of militant version of the Jedi: a similar lawkeeping mandate and similar vow of poverty, but with a tendency to use lethal force as a first resort.

Justicar is my instinctive answer.  When I played Mass Effect 2, I thought at the time that the justicars seemed like a sort of militant version of the Jedi: a similar lawkeeping mandate and similar vow of poverty, but with a tendency to use lethal force as a first resort.

Thing is, the Jedi are a monastic order (hence their simple robes) and their code compels them to be pacifists with no strong emotions. Them being involved with politics and war is what causes so many of them to fall, since staying aloof when the world is burning around you goes against human nature. All the Sith we see in the movies are former Jedi or the disciples of fallen Jedi. The true Sith have been gone for millenia, all that's left is their philosophy and all the Jedi who can't deal with the (unreasonable) Jedi code become Sith because Star Wars is a nonsense black vs. white morality tale. Yes, there are Gray Jedi but those never played an important role.

The whole Star Wars universe is one big chaotic mess because no one agrees on what the Force is or how it works but after reading all the novels, playing all the games and watching all the movies and series it is clear that neither Jedi or Sith philosophy works. It's too simplicistic and doesn't take the real world into account. Going out into the world was always a risk for them. Falling in love and marrying? That got you kicked out.

Jedi were never a law keeping force, they were often asked to be arbiters because everyone respected them and they were more or less neutral. But upholding the law? They didn't have a mandate like that. That being said, most law enforcement agencies were happy to have the help of a Jedi, because the Force gave them ways to solve crimes that normally wouldn't have been available.

Jedi are taught that attachments are a weakness, one could interpret that to mean they shouldn't own a lot of property. But except for some hermits, no Jedi lived in poverty. Almost each one had a spaceship (or access to one), droids and a proper home. Not to mention that the Jedi temple on Coruscant looked very expensive and artistic.

If you look at the history of the Jedi then you'll find many that didn't use a lightsaber (in fact, for millenia the ancient Jedi didn't have the technology). Each modern Jedi had one, making one was part of the final test of becoming a Jedi knight but most Jedi only learned the basics of combat. The saber was more a symbol of their order than a weapon. What use does it have for a monk who meditates all day? What use does it have for a diplomat or arbiter? What use does it have for scholars and healers?

The Jedi who cared about combat were a minority and even for them it was more a theoretical exercise than anything else... because violence and the emotions attached to it run contrary to the Jedi code. They helped the Republic out of a sense of responsibility, became honorary generals and in most cases never came back to the Order. They either died or became Sith, or they quit completely and became exiles.

Biotics in ME are based on the Force, which means any adept class works as Jedi. The sword/lightsaber though? Irrelevant. Lightsaber combat is flashy but in war the Jedi were commanding officers and/or pilots. They weren't shy in using other weapons, too.

SWtoR "Light Side Sith Warrior" was pretty satisfying, even though that was a totally inaccurate way of describing it.  My Sith Warrior was fully committed to the Empire, and to the Dark Side, but he was an overall good guy.  He didn't torture people unnecessarily, actually tried to help those he could, and was the life of the party when entertaining friends.  Of course he wouldn't shy away from conflict, or from using violence to achieve his goals.

I thought it was a very concise example of how a "Dark Side" character did not have to be inherently evil; the Empire itself, its soldiers, troopers, officers, are all normal people, with lives and families.  From their perspective, the Rebels are terrorists.  The original KotOR was also a great example of this, late in the game when going to rescue Bastila.  There were some compelling dialogues in that act of the game.

Bioware knew more about how to make a good Star Wars story than Lucas.  Unfortunately now I do not believe they know how to make a good anything story.

SWtoR "Light Side Sith Warrior"

Just starting SWTOR again after seeing Star Wars. >.<

Thinking I'm going to finally get through the Operative storyline, hear it's one of the better ones. Haven't played it since a year and a half ago. By the sounds of it they addressed all the changes I was wanting and added a few I never thought an MMO would get.

I liked dark side sith warrior, played into it. Was not at all reluctant. The power climb, working their system, was everything. Had a lot of fun just running with it.

I'd like to do a light side sith sorceror, started one up but never got higher than 15ish. Had to laugh a few times though. Worth going back to.

Evil Lord, "Shock the prisoner."

Me, "No."

Evil Lord, "Shock the prisoner?"

Me, "I said no."

Evil Lord, "You really sure you don't want to shock the prisoner?"

Me, "Please stop asking me to shock the prisoner."

Evil Lord, "Fiine. *pout*"

Me, [+1 L.S.]

Sith Warrior story was good all the way through.  Sith Sorcerer story kinda dragged in the middle but the last chapter was incredibly satisfying.

I only played Jedi Sage during the beta and found the game wanting overall. BioWare could have created a wonderful KotOR3 with all the stories but instead they made yet another WoW clone. It improved a lot since then but I can't forget my initial disappointment with it.

Using the Force in anger, using it to kill... leads to the dark side. Or you know, to a high level and shiny new items. I still think that adapting Star Wars as MMORPG is a bad idea as long as there are so many Force users. It would have been a lot better if there had been at least three sides and being a Jedi or Sith should have been incredibly difficult all the time.

Then they had to make up powers and stuff to squeeze the Star Wars characters into the standard tank, healer, dps classes and that just didn't work. Don't get me wrong, I love playing healing classes... but all the healing powers of my Jedi Sage were an asspull.

I always thought the point of the robe was that Obi-Wan was living in a desert. In hiding. Trying not to look like a Jedi.

Then came the prequels and NOTHING MADE SENSE ANYMORE.

All the background of the Jedi was established long before the prequels and some brave authors even tried to made sense of the new movies. Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader helped a lot to establish our favourite villain despite his history as a whiny, spoiled, arrogant brat.

The mess that is Star Wars started when the first movie became successful and Lucas had to make something up for the sequels. Before that, there were no Sith. Darth Vader wasn't a title, it was his actual name. Luke and Leia weren't siblings. Darth Vader actually killed Anakin Solo. And Obi Wan Kenobi was wearing robes because he was in a desert and not because they are the traditional garments of the Jedi.

No one cares because Mandos are way cooler than space monks and emos with glowsticks. Try going 80-0 with Luke Skywhiner or Darth Slowpoke like you can with Boba in Battlefront. Exactly

It's clear that quarians are ME's Mandos. Nomads with helmets, sexy voices and crafty tech abilities instead of lame space magic.

mandolorians are kickass

If you want to be a kickass mandolorian, play the Flamer kits (vorcha and geth) or turian havoc

Jedi can't use mind tricks when they are on fire!

While I admit I need to renew my Star Wars Fandom permit, isn't mentioning MANDOLORIANS guaranteed to generate a self-sustaining uranium 235 chain reaction (sorry, history major here)?

Also I searched for MANDALORIANS on giphy and got this
