Okay, I've been playing this game since Day 1.  Took some respites to play other games (most recently Dark Souls 2... oy...), but I always drift back.  Just tallied what I still need.  30.  30 more UR cards before my manifest is complete.  While only playing a couple of Silver and Gold matches each night.

At this rate, I'm hoping to finish it by the time Star Wars IX comes out.

Don't worry about it. Forget lolSilver and lolGold (Platinum is profitable), use your best equipment and weapons, git gud with a kit (all of them are Plat worthy) and before you know it, maxed manifest will just...happen. That's the legit way I always liked.

On mustard rice there are other ways - if you are going to be a space wizzard.

I never thought I'd do it either but it wound up happening. Didn't feel like a grind because I didn't think of it as something to grind. Just had fun playing the game, trying stupid ideas, or perfecting good ones. BOTB, that felt like a grind at times, but I had a different mentality towards that.

I did find sticking to platinums and yeah, pugging em, was lucrative. Not as lucrative as other options on the PC, but I wanted to legitimately max it. The same cannot be said if I start a new account for whatever reason. <_<

I'll never max mine either.  <garrus>And I'm okay with that</garrus>.

I unlock a lot slower than most of BSN because I don't do Platinum and have zero interest in being backpacked through it just for credits.  Playing the game at a level I enjoy and can contribute to is more important than virtual shiny things.  With all the Rares at X, my manifest is what one might term "functionally maxed" anyway, if one considers URs to be bonuses.

I might do it. I think I have between 30 and 40 to go, and I don't expect it would happen for at least about a year. I don't think it much matters, since I have access to all the weapons (finally filled that PPR hole) and any weapons I care about are at X or close to it.

You don't need a maxed manifest. Just get a Venom V+, and you're set.

I have recently maxed my manifest, with very little platinum. Methinks you will get there too. :) The key for me was to find friends to play with, at about my skill level. Matches go by much faster with competent teammates who play with you, and not to beat your score, while wipes become rarer and rarer. Also very important, you end up needing significantly less consumables, reducing the need to sink credits in those. And finally, the game remains fresh and fun, so you might find yourself playing more than if you were just pugging ;)

That's not to say that your philosophy of playing for fun and feeling like you are contributing isn't right! I just don't think that that, and a maxed manifest, need be mutually exclusive :)

When I was down to something like 30 more URs to go, I got it done within 2 days.

You jilted your lover RNG at the Altar, no wonder she hates you, you need to make up with her to get back in good graces, sacrificing a goat or two might help

Take it from me, goat sacrifice isn't worth the trouble...the mess...the smell.

It only gets you 2 URs.

I've got all the characters but there's still a fair few weapons i haven't even got the basic version of yet, so will still be a while longer before I have a maxed out set of "X" weapons and mods.

But honestly as long as you're still having fun playing it then it doesn't really matter how much is left.

The RNG wants to force you into early retirement. But you know you still have money left to make and accomplishments to earn. Tell that RNG where to shove that early retirement. Max the manifest! Best (gaming) feeling evar!

During the pre-maxed manifest days, you should be having enough fresh pug energy to be playing 24-7. I did.

I do not recommend Plat. Silver and Gold are much better. They take less time to complete and offer little risk if you have reliable friends with you. If youre with pugs, try silver.

My advice is to have patience. Wait till you have at least two million credits then start purchasing the costlier items in a row. It will increase your chances of obtaining ultra rare weapons.

Another advice is to listen to audio-books or lectures while playing. It will reduce the feeling that it´s time being wasted.  If you are on silver there should be no need for vocal interaction with your squad-mates.

Your chances are exactly the same whether you spend credits in large saved-up sums or if you trickle it out as you make the money...

However, I reckon the self-improvement advice is probably quite good at assuaging recreational guilt!

I think Geth was trying to say save for PSPs and it just came out sounding like good ol' BSN mythos. There's no way anyone believes that anymore.

edit: on second thought, nvm. 2 million credits. for shame.

You have a 15% chance (2x7.5%) of an UR dropping from a PSP or AP. So to get 30 URs, you need about 200 PSPs or APs, or about 20 million, or about 250 completed Gold games. Say you can complete 5 Golds per evening, that's about 7 more weeks of playing. Weekends could make that much less.

The reason for saving up and spending 5 or 10 million at a time isn't to do with the odds, it's psychological. Because if you spend that much at a sitting, you will see your manifest progressing at each spending session.

30 URs left isn't much compared to what you already received. It won't take long until you maxed everything.
