I just started the dwarf noble origin story after having completed a playthrough where I went through every DLC and earned extra weapons and armor from the start of the story.  The question is, what do I want to do with the "Blood Dragon armor", etc.?

I know my poor dwarf noble is going to end up with the wardens after some sort of disgrace.  So, will I be allowed to keep all this stuff when I leave with Duncan?  Or should I sell it all to a single merchant so I can buy it back later when I have to return to Orzamar?

Any dlc items you've earned or bought should still be in your inventory when you go to leave with Duncan. The game takes everything else though.

I think there used to be an issue where dlc or earned items would also be taken, but as long as you are up to date on your patches, you should be good.

Dumb question about dwarves....we all know they can't do magic, yet I was just presented by King Aeducan who is dressed in an outfit that looks a lot like Tevinter mage robes.  Also, in previous run-throughs, when the new king is crowned, all the nobles have what look like staves?!  What gives, particularly about the king's robes?

I think it's just re-use of items and meshes that already exist in-game.  (Also, FWIW, the Archon's Robe you can loot from one of the tower rooms in Broken Circle isn't restricted to mages.  My City Elf Warrior can wear it, for example.)

Disregard that. They're not mage robes in that case even though they look like em. Same with the staves. Just think of them as walking sticks.

My headcanon in a nutshell, though I think of the staves as being staves of office.

They're not staves, they are big pointy Darkspawn prodders   ;)

And congratulations for choosing an often neglected but freaking awesome Origin.  My Lady Aeducan is one of my all time favourites, she never found a problem that she couldn't solve with a bloody great big mallet.  Have fun!

If I remember correctly, you will keep the blood dragon armor.  I know that you keep all items that you receive from playing the DLC, but you won't get to keep any items that you buy or win during the Orzammar Origin.

For the robes and staffs, yes, they just LOOK like mage equipment.

And a little self advertisement,

Indeed, I did the mage origin first, then the human noble, then both elf origins.  Every time, when I went to Orzamar, I did Behlen's dirty work because he was for the casteless and for trade with surface.  I always knew he was slimy, but the ends seemed to justify the means.  Now as a sibling betrayed, I can't wait to get even!  I hope it's more satisfying than killing Arl Howe....

I figured laziness might have been a part of it...

Hi, MerAnne!  You must be the patron saint of dwarves!  Or at least a paragon of some sort!  Just curious as to how you like the way dwarves have been revised in Inquisition?  (No, haven't done DA 2 yet, so don't know how they were re-imagined there.)  Here, the long arms look funny but they probably help compensate for the height advantage other races have over dwarves.  In Inquisition, they now look like children...

FWIW, I did get to keep all the DLC perks when they tossed my disgraced noble into the deep roads.  The Lelaina armor definitely came in handy!  A light armor that's better than all the level 1 and level 2 armors available during the origin stories.  Definitely helpful for my first Nightmare run-through!

This is one of my essential mods.  I hope some enterprising modder can fix the males.

In DA2 they look like midgets with big noses.  *shudder*

Clothes and staves don't make the mage. Mages merely wear robes and use staves; there's nothing that says only they can wear and use them.

MerAnne, I just installed your mod and restarted the dwarf noble origin!  I even got the voiceovers to work!  So far, I ran into two of your girls in the Diamond quarter. At what point are you supposed to choose the gender of these companions?

Geez, I played a female dwarf Warden and never really noticed the arms, now I feel left out lol....the super narrow waist was weird to me though.  I think the DAI dwarf is better proportioned and stocky.

The default gender is female.  For the Dwarf Noble Origin, the gender selector is inside the Palace, just before you go through the door to enter the Diamond District

I don't think that I get to be the patron saint of dwarves (or a paragon) until I completely FINISH the mod(s), but thank you!

I haven't played inquisition and probably won't for a long time, if ever. The EA/Bioware advertising, DRM, and Origin requirement made that decision for me.  Design of the Dwarves was poorly done in DAO. The arms weren't overly long (based on standard dwarf 'design'), but the muscling/proportions were horrible so that they looked like hairless orangutan arms - with BIG hands.  I preferred DA2 for the way the MALE Dwarves looked, but haven't had the time/interest to finish DA2.  I won't say that the way the DA2 dwarves were designed was perfect, just better than DAO.  DAI, I wouldn't know, but I'm SURE that they were Visually Dynamic.

I should have mentioned that there are multiple opportunities to select the gender for the Dwarf Companions, but you HAVE to make the selection before the first time that you enter the area where the Companion will be recruited.  Someone who plays the a Dwarf Companion can have one gender in the Origin, but change before recruiting the Companion.  The 'gender selection' statues are in both Dwarf Origins, Ostagar, and at Flemeth's hut.

Your Mod looks great, I will try it on my next dwarven run (I like the commoner origin better, but both are great). Your Companions really look nice.

As for the Origin requirement: That keeps me from playing DAI too.

I found the gender selector in Ostagar, but so far have not run into any dwarf companions.  (I'm currently making my way up the Tower of Ishal with those forgotten heroes:  "Tower Guard" and "Circle Mage.")  When are you supposed to be able to recruit them?  I ran into two in Orzamar but only had brief conversations.

As to the long arm characteristic, remember that with boxing, they always compare the arm length of boxers to figure out who has the advantage.  Perhaps the original concept is that those long arms would compensate for their short stature.

The introductions in Orzammar are really only introductions.

Yes, I'm terrified at getting flailed to death with noodle arms!  I understand the reach in boxing, but there also needs to be some POWER behind any punch and with no muscling....  Well, I guess there is still momentum.

The staff you get from

Spoiler
can be used as a mage’s staff. That always kind of bugged me. Then I just said the MST Mantra.

That is odd.  There's a rather odd relationship between magic and dwarves in the DA world!

:o A lack of continuity?!  I'm SHOCKED and APPALLED!

I just head canon that with all of the lyrium in Orzammar, the Dwarves end up with staves that are enchanted/magic even though they don't use the magic in them.
