Within two seconds of pressing the play button on the launcher (or MassEffect2.exe directly) the program becomes non-responsive, according to the Task Manager.  It creates a task on that list and a button on the toolbar, but they are instantly frozen.  It doesn't even get as far as the black screen other posters are seeing nor any other splash screens.  There are no error messages until I close that task, at which point I get the classic "Mass Effect 2 is not responding: Check for solution, Close the program, or Wait for it to respond." I've even left it running for about 15 minutes just to see if it would resolve the issue, but sadly no...

Mine was purchased from EA and downloaded via their Download Manager.  After the three (completely smooth) re-installs I've done, I DO get the initial DRM check (which seems to work), but after that, nothing.

And the deets:
Windows Vista Home 32 SP2
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad
4GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX, driver ver: 191.17 (latest)
DirectX 10.0

Oh, and where the heck is the Forum Search Link / Button / Field?  According to the "How to report an issue" sticky, there is one, but I'm just not seeing it on these Social Network Forum pages.  I may be overlooking it (I do that), but I've been looking at this website for a healthy portion of the day, and I simply have not found it (nor any synonyms either).

Wow! Tried to log on again and, wouldn't you know it, it's telling me that the game hasn't been released in New York yet! It's still insisting, despite all available evidence, that it's actually the day before yesterday. Crazy.

So how about telling us what you're doing to fix it, Bioware? Tell us what the problem is? Tell us approximately when it'll be fixed? That would be swell, don't you think?

Don't blame Bioware. EA is the company responsible for laying off too many people from its QA department. I don't recall ever having any issues with Bioware games prior to their acquisition.
