When I started to play MP (this year, so still relatively green) I was joining pugs with "any challenge" when suddenly I am playing Platinum (my first week in MP btw). Finished it and I have 1 million credits... I was like wow this must be because I am a new guy or something (I did get some free packs from BW as welcome) but now I see it is a hack. xD

Anyway, I just started to see the other side of MP and I would want to continue playing legit, no one-hit kill, no 6/6/6/6/6 and etc. Wanna learn that pizza run though.

Fully agreed.

Modded games don't happen PS3, so they won't apply to our games.

Although, if playing with friends & agreed on it in advance, it might be interesting to try some super-husk-mode, just for funsies and/or the horror. Or the non-existant areas of the normal maps or maps that never made the cut to the official versions. Judging by the videos posted, many look entertaining.

I'm all down for modding for fun purposes. I wish I could've tried husk mode when I still played

Do whatever you feel like in private and stick to what the game's intended to let you do in public. I'm not even sure why reload cancelling is mentioned since I suspect it's a deliberate mechanic. It may have been unintentional in ME2 but I doubt that it would've been accidentally carried over to 3.

IMO

Grinding credits is supposed to be part of the game.

Reload canceling is a clever use of in game mechanics.

6/6/6/6/6 is a glitch, unintended.

Missile glitching, name says it all.

Grey areas or not, some things are just simply defined.

I was going to buy a decent pc just to experience husk mode. But alas cheating ex partner blah, blah blah.

I would love to know how many husks can be stunned by one arc grenade?? Or blown up by a destroyer frag nade? Or how many could I fry with a chain overload tech burst!

Now I sad :(

Gaspur and Fagnan weighed in on what was cheating and what wasn't and it's pretty clearly defined

Canceling is not a cheat and is intended, both powers and weapons

Pizza sprinting is fine, and so is ninja hack

Manveer's Holy WarpFire of **** You +5 is cheap, but fine (remember that two of the infiltrators are literally based around broken builds that got through QA, one of them twice

5x6 is not fine and you used to get banned for it, if you want your level 6+6 explosions, lose your passives or health, simple as

sploding switch is not fine and neither is switching damage types in your coalesced, even the fixes

modded enemies is not fine, even for fun or endless husks

Missile sub is not fine

console commands/coalesced splitting are not fine, unless you're enabling typechat or removing all-in-one button only

Contrary to what Chris Priestly said, modding your vision out of rage or Hunter overlay is fine, as long as that's ALL you do

Switching racial traits is not fine

Missile glitching is my line. Most ps3 players probably know this. The way I see it 666 builds are like ME3 SP squad. If BioWare didnt want it theyd have goddamn fixed it instead of ditching the game with this and other major flaws. I dont do it on all my builds though as it doesnt really benefit all capable kits. Out of map exploits dont bother me as even with infinite ammo youre likely trapped in one spot.

To all those who say reload/animation cancelling is cheating, [EXPLITIVE DELETED] Get a clue on game mechanics you friggin...
I wish I could say what I wanted to without my post getting modded. Just know that I hold your intelligence in low regard.

Ahem...so, mgamerz, how's it going? Everything ok with you? Super! Glad to hear it!

Anyway, what was that you said about consoles and credits? What's up with that? I have a few minutes if you wanna, y'know, tell me more about that...

I never learned how to do the 6/6/6/6/6, but it accidentally happened on my Geth Prime. So I was like, well I guess I will use the crappy turret then *shrugs*. It heals pugs, so no harm done.

I don't incendiary cheese on purpose. Don't even know if I'd be doing it right if I tried.

Don't know how to missile glitch or pizza run.

I reload cancel like a mo-fo though.

I'm on PS3, so no hacked lobbies.

The only thing I take issue with are missile glitchers, if I am in a mood. Otherwise, I'll finish the lobby because the loading screens are too long for me to look for a new game, and I still need to max my manifest. Then I move on.

I don't really care, tbh. I care much more about etiquette. People not reviving anybody, or being shitty on the mic, or useless during objectives.

On console, the quickest Pizza Run is to simply sprint backwards with an Asari while spamming your Omni-Button.  Some kits can manage it sideways or even forwards, but these are with short hops or rolls, and not actually running.

Quick reload I don't have an issue with.

Rest I will not due.

The missile one particularly takes all the fun away from the game. Joined a lobby with a bunch of randoms with mic. After a few games we went to planimum and 2 of them did missile glitch. It was done very quickly but was so damn boring I quit after 1 match with them.

I can never understand how what amounts to god mode can be entertaining.

Anything apart from missile glitching is cool with me.

It wasn't so long ago that I quick matched into the beginning of a gold geth glacier.

Pug one started glitching. I said put your **** back in your pants, it's geth I'm running a Warlord.

He continually rained unsportsmanlike space magic fairy bullets upon those I tried to hammer. This made Gecko quite angry :(

So I decided to hammer his head for the next ten minutes. Pug number 2 was asking 'why are you hurting him?'.

Pug 3 was sitting in that back room, rocking backwards and forwards whilst banging his head against the wall.

Good times....

Full spec is not as bad,Especially on a volus. I have a 6/6/6/6/6 protector by accident. I only use him rarely and i can barely feel any more powerful with all the passives. Doing it on purpose is scrubby IMO

Missile glitchers are horrible weasles, especially when they go on pugs.

Reload cancel is totally acceptable in my view. I do it all the time

You can run it with anyone on console it's just clunkier and awkward. It's not as smooth as PC but people who have mastered the technique can move pretty fast without any dodging or dashing. I do it in solos because in team games I tend to strategically, yet shamefully, ignore pizzas unless krogan or asari.

Cheating, and what I mean by it is that step you don't think anyone, yourself, friends, or pugs you play with, should do.

Where's your line? How do you define it? There seems to be a lot of grey area on the matter.

For some Reload Canceling is a line they won't cross.

For others, it's 6/6/6/6/6.

Yet more won't use the console/tweaks to edit their credits.

Then you have missile glitching.

Where's that line for you personally?

***

For myself, it usually comes down to some level of time versus combat effectiveness. I maxed my manifest legitimately on PC but I don't consider other people that tweak their credits to be cheating. In fact if I was ever to start a new manifest unless I was starting on console (not gonna happen...) I'd very likely make that grind happen markedly faster.

6/6/6/6/6 though, isn't something I'll do. Not that I necessarily think other people shouldn't, but if they do I'm kind of looking down on a it a bit. Sort of a training wheels philosophy. If you need the fitness/passives that bad that you can't spec out of it you're doing it wrong. Only time I've been tempted was the Paladin. I want all his cake, and the icing, and plate too. But I still don't, because some of sick part of me still enjoys the agony of specing him.

Reload Canceling, for me it's just a part of the game to learn. An additional mechanic to help improve gameplay by adding a skill-capped timing component to increase efficiency. I remember a thread a few months back (Yes, only a few months, not 2012) where someone was arguing that Reload Canceling was cheating. I was pretty surprised by that.

Finally, missile glitching and what I call "one-shot lobbies" (modded plat games where enemies die in 1 hit)  are a waste of time. No fun, no challenge, not worth staying around. It was the type of thing I did when I was 17 playing Baldur's Gate with Shadowkeeper, god mode essentially. It was terrifically fun for all of an hour, then it was terrifically boring.

You?

well I've done almost everything in the game from:

1. raid the Space Bank

2. 6/6/6/6/6 on all kits

3. edit weapons stats

4. edit mods and enable all in all weapons

5. enable search for private lobbys

6. play unfinished maps

7. switch teams  (only with troll people or others who switch team im a gray wizard after all)

8. edit banner IDs

9. edit stats in all kits

10. use console commands

11. use text chat

12. and made crazy game mods for other people

and i feel bad for that?, NOPE!!!

I played a lot and there are people who tell you "DUDE YOU ARE AWESOME" or "YOU DAMN HACKER PEOPLE LIKE YOU RUIN THE GAME" i only try to make the most entertaining game after having achieved everything that could reach.

something will change, not really, I will continue to the next ME and when I get it all over again I will use again the forbidden SPACE MAGIC!!!!  :wizard:

All 66666 glitch. Yes please.

Reload canceling? Sure, I do it. But this glitch sure turns many single/double shot weapons into highest tier weapons for those that can aim consistently enough. Because nothing dominates better then one player single handedly taking out all mooks in one shot at a crazy fire rate. ... "Here comes my RwaHaha 66666 KroLord in for the heavy melee kill! Oop, where his head go?"

I just did 2 Gold KroLord matches where I didn't shot anything and only used my Electric Hammer. So 66666 did nothing for me since I could of easily skipped either passives or Biotic Hammer. But fat chance of that happening with how rare respec cards are. No reason why I shouldn't have access to unlimited respec cards in a game like this.

bauza, does search for private lobby actually work? I did it once (by accident) but I still ended up in a public game. I don't know if the matchmaking bot solicits private lobbies, though it would have to somehow in order to join via FL.

Well if you're talking about that big list of console commands you posted a couple months ago on your blog, none of adjustcredits givecredits awardcredits and givegawcredits seem to affect the mp credits.

I have two things to say.

1)

Reload canceling is not cheating. It's not a glitch. Why is it even mentioned in this thread? It's an intentional game mechanic. Saying that it's cheating is saying that dodging or using powers is cheating.

Seriously, why does this keep coming up? I don't even see Beerfish here bringing it up.

2)

Honestly I find the whole question a bit... insufficient. Firstly, it's not either-or. There are many kinds of cheating, and there are even more degrees of cheating. Secondly, and more importantly, the whole question "what do you consider cheating" - even if it includes all different shades of cheating - is meaningless unless you also consider your feelings and attitudes towards that wide gamut.

For example, credit hacking is, to me, very obviously cheating, yet I don't have any negative feelings towards it whatsoever. On the other hand, incendiary glitching is something I hardly consider cheating at all, but I still find it somewhat contemptible.

Personally I avoid almost all glitches that make the game easier, but I don't really do it because I consider those things cheating - I do it because they tend to make the game less fun. It's the same reason why I don't use Reegar or play AIU or TGI etc. - even though I don't consider their use cheating, they make me feel like I'm cheating.

Reload Animation cancelling isn't a glitch though. It literally is a clever use of game mechanics and Mass Effect is far from the only game that does this. Tekken, DoA, Spiderman, Batman, Resident Evil (remember when dodging in RE4 during a reload animation instantly reloaded an protected you?), hell, ME2 had it for any Vanguards who've ever used a Claymore. It's not a glitch, it's not underhanded, it's not cheating. It falls in line with utilizing a double BE with Singularity. Don't let a few clueless gamers influence you to even suggest that.

@ Lemur: I guess we're in the same boat, haha. I hate using the Reegar, Harrier, AIU, TGI, GI, and Acolyte w Flamer. Just feels dirty to me and makes things so easy. Granted an Incendiary IV VENOM on my Quarian Male Engineer feels easy but it's also fun and full of asplosionz.
