The decision of the authors to make Fiona the mother of Alistair suddenly and play Alistairs quest "A family for Alistair" (its called in the german game version) and meet Goldana, I was asking me what if when I would play a mage with blood mage education.

Is a blood mage or something similar able to feel or explore the origin of the blood? Is he able to find out wich blood is almost the same?

note: I don't like this lore state and cannot agree this.

I don't think you have to be a blood mage to do that.

Regular divination magic or whatever passes for it in DA should be enough.

But if it is done through blood magic then all the more reason for it to be extensively studied instead of foolishly forbidden.

Interesting question.  While I agree with Treacherous J Slither that regular divination magic or what passes for it in Thedas should be enough, I suppose you could argue that a blood mage would be more sensitive to distinctions or differences in the blood of those around them.  Which then raises the question of just how experienced a blood mage you have to be before you can pick up on what those distinctions mean.

I'm truly flattered that you sat there and typed out my whole name.

I have no idea why but it pleases me for some reason.

There is no divination magic in Dragon Age, for the most part.

Well they do have seers in dragon age who have specific abilities but good luck finding one outside of Tevinter or Riva, the southern chantry isn't exactly approving of it though they tolerate it to a point much like they tolerate the Navarran Necromancers or permit the order of Knight Enchanters who serve the divine.

Is it the fact that you're not sure if blood magic could figure this out, or that Alistair is canonically Fiona's son that bothers you?

Mages have a ritual what can indentify father-parent of the child. it was maded even in Orlais Chantry Circles(like in Ferelden Circle in Calenhad river) of mages so year its kinda a common magic

it maybe a blood magic but acceptable as with lythanies of Andralla and fylacteriens for templars what are by the lore impossible to create without blood magic knowledges
