So..first of all, i'd like to excuse myself for the horrible english i'll soon present to all of you, but this had to be shared with people that understands. Today, for a reason called nostalgia, i watched some youtube videos of different moments in the trilogy and, after only a few minutes, i was smiling as ever and with a tear on my cheek. It was not because of my LI (Liara) or my brother (Garrus), but because of the most beautiful baby boy in all the universe, my little Grunt! I miss that kid so much! So, of course, it was very easy to start watching all the videos with all the theories. Some of them were actually quite good! Now, i was sort of expecting (or hoping, tbh) that the krogan that we all saw in the trailer would be the "Mordin" that Wrex speaks of after the Tuchanka mission (since i believe it happens wether you cure the krogans or betray them), but..idk how would it work if Mordin dies in the collector base. It's probably NOT going to happen but i had hopes. (i miss having an adopted krogan son)
In any case, many of the theories (the most solid ones, i think) set the beginning of ME:A DURING the reaper invasion (the main technical reason: avoid the ending at all cost) which in a practical sense, would erase the chances of any sort of easter egg related to the original trilogy (beyond a simple "have you heard of Shepard?"), since we are pretty much on the run, in a parallel timeline and far far away (i highly doubt you can pull an E.T.-phone home from Andromeda).
So is my reasoning correct? Did i miss something? Are there theories that set the beginning of the story long after the invasion? Share the knowledge! For Grunt!

Wrex can also die in the trilogy, before Mordin can, so the chances of having one of his children appear are very slim.

Which is a shame, because I love imagining Wrex as a father.

It could, but I feel like he would have mentioned if it did and he knew about it. I'm sure he's gotten around a bit too, but he's got the genophage to contend with, so him having a child before the cure would have been a really, really big deal.

It's wishful thinking and nothing more but it's one hell of a wish! Besides, i'm sure that there was a name for that krogan in all those leaks. Can't remember tho

Like Poodle said, I think it was mentioned Wrex was 600-700 during ME1. So, in that time he likely did sire a few children. But I agree, it is a lovely idea thinking of Wrex playing daddy.

I think it would be likely, if not for the genophage. As it was, all Krogan have what we would consider extremely long lives, and yet those who manage to have children are still in the minority.

If I recall correctly, I believe I read something which indicated that the name of the new Krogan member is Drack.

I think Wrex says it during the party in the Citadel DLC.

Wasn't Wrex more likely to have kids anyway? Mordin asked for something from him. A healthy sample. I always assumed that was because the genophage didn't affect him as much as the majority.

My understanding was that Mordin needed a healthy male Krogan volunteer, and Wrex was the only one on hand. If Wreav is there instead, Mordin will state the need for a male Krogan specimen as well, and Wreav will announce that he'll be that specimen with his usual boorishness. Wrex was only significant because he was in a position to be, mostly thanks to his leadership skills and initiative.

He says something like "you're looking at it" in a cocky tone when Mordin mentions it. I figured that was saying "look, my sperm can swim! You're not going to get a healthier sample than me."
