So I got the base game of DA:I about a year ago on PC and looking at the origin sale at the moment figured it would be a good time to grab all the dlc I never played. The GOTY edition seems to be the better deal, but I wanted to know if buying the GOTY will create a second instance of inquisition in my origin library that I'd have to go through to play the dlc? If it does, is this going to cause issues with my save game etc, will I have to move it about or something? I don't really want to have to re-play the 100 or so hours I already spent on that character. Any info about this would be great, thanks!

I have assumed that the GOTY is just the regular game with DLC vouchers (since on console you have to download all the DLC), but I guess I've never actually made sure that assumption is correct. Glad someone asked, since I would be pretty upset if I ended up getting the GOTY version for the DLC only to find out that it was treated as a brand new game.

Wait.... what's so hard about moving a savegame file?

The question isn't difficulty but necessity.

If you buy the GOTY edition, does Origin treat it as a completely new game, or will OP essentially have just unlocked all the extra content for the game already installed?

Well, he did ask about replaying. That's just crazy.

Yes, it will. You'll have two games in the library.

It just unlocks content, all the statistics (playthrough hours, achievements) and saves are shared automatically. You don't have to re-play anything.

It's not that I'd mind having to move the save file I just wanted to know if I'd have to, or if there was going to be compatability issues for some reason. Sounds like it should be fine, if both 'versions' will share the same set of data then having two games show up in the library shouldn't be an issue. If I recall I can always just hide one of them. Thanks!

Check prices, GOTY is simply the game with all DLC, if you buy each DLC separately then, you still only have one copy of Inquisition in your library and, with waiting for a sale, that might be a better deal.

I did, hence the question. As it stands, I can get the three expansions for about £24 or the GOTY for £25 (on the current sale) This pretty much means that I get the equipment packs for just £1 more, and then I have all the content. If having the second instance of Inquisition in my library was going to be really irritating I might just buy the expansions separately and forget about the mounts and armour and stuff, but if not, then for £1 I might as well get everything.

Not too annoying but, I suspect, like those of us that had/have the Beta (Because we were Beta Testers) you will have to use the play button within Origin because the desktop icon is liable to launch either version of the game, resulting in confusion as to where your content and saves went if you are not aware of that small glitch with two versions of the game installed.

As for moving saves, that is a simple copy and paste operation, if you need to do that, takes a few seconds is all.
