So this is probably a really stupid question, but I looked through the instruction manual and a few pages of the forums and couldn't find anything about it. I just picked up my copy of ME2 and tried to import my ME1 Shepard. For some reason, if I'm signed into my Gamerprofile while I do this, a box is displayed that says 'Sign-in change has occurred. Please sign out of your gamerprofile to continue.' If I sign out, the game begins as usual with my old ME1 character. However, the drawback is that I can't save at all. If I try to sign in while playing, the box just gets displayed again and I can either sign out or restart the game. If I begin the game with the default Shepard, it's not an issue at all.
I have no idea what the problem is. My old Shepard is saved to this profile, but for some reason it won't let me play the game unless I'm not signed in. And if I sign out, I can't save. I played through the first 2 hours of the game with my old Shepard before I realized it was all just wasted effort. My roommate is having the exact same problem, with a different hard drive altogether. Anyone know a way to fix it? My 360 isn't connected to the internet, if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone posted on another thread that the suspected problem is the fact that you are not connected to the Internet,
I have the exact same problem and I'm trying to play while offline with the exact same results you just described.
Either Microsoft has changed their LIVE protocols and now you have to be connected to LIVE in order to play with the profile or BioWare messed up and there's a glitch.
I don't know, but it's getting really annoying,

Hey. Just confirming that I am currently experiencing this problem also. I'm hoping this will be addressed in the next patch.

I'm having the same issue. Little different though. When i sign in with either of my old shepards the game will first disconnect from xbox live, then tell me my user name has changed. This all usually occurs withing the first minute or two of the opening animation. I am not able to log back into xbox live without going to the test connection screen, which logs in successfully every time.
I've have a few hard crashes too, where the system locks and i have to completely restart. The best crash so far was when I installed the disc for the first time and it crashed on the EA screen. I didn't realize at the time how bad of an omen this would be.
I am able to start and play a game with a new character, but was signed out of xbox live in the first mission. I was able to save. Also, i haven't had any issues with this type of bug with any other game. I am plugged into the internet
