Out of cover damage bonus

When you are not in cover do you get a damage bonus to your guns? I seem to see scripts saying you get a .4 bonus in the damage calculation algorithm if you aren't in cover, but I can't find anything to back this up. Does anyone have any info on this?

This seems to apply to PlayerParty which considers of players and the henchmen from SP. So it only works against you.

When out of cover you TAKE 40% more damage, is that perhaps what you are looking at?

IIRC, it's a "bonus" to damage taken, i.e. the same bullet hits the player for 1.4 times more damage if they are not in cover than if they are.

So in cover I get a 90% damage reduction from the front and out of cover I get a 40% damage increase to myself... seems legit

While we're on the topic of cover, does anyone know the cover accuracy bonus mechanics ? I have the feeling that it boosts the accuracy and recoil of every gun except shotguns, but I don't have numbers.

It does. Except with the harrier.

Shotguns do get an accuracy boost in cover (or at least the circle appears to get smaller)

Any numbers ? And interesting for the shotguns, I was sure they didn't get bonus from that.

Nope, cover doesn't affect shotgun spread at all.

Must be some type of way of "hiding" for people without tactical cloak, the ability to see through walls, and proximity mine.  

 

Unless, of course, using RHA is considered "cover".

Cover is for scrubs who can't TGI. See wat I did thar?

When you're sneaking into the Collector Base and your Collector mask falls off, the jig is up. Your cover has been blown (hence 1.4 damage multiplier.)

Surely you have watched pugs *ignore* all the cover on each map and stand in the open and get killed over and over? B)

Yes, and my GI is always there to Tactical Cloak, res them, and run off.   You would think that even a drunken Hanar would learn not to put its tentacles in the rock crusher after it got "wrung out" a few times......   

 

Besides, its one thing to res them; it's another thing to use rockets, which I prefer to save for use on Swarmers.

 

One place where those "Rambos" seem to shrink is London vs Collectors.  You know where I am talking about - that "No Man's Land" that looks like the surface of the Moon.  Scions and Preatorians and Possessed Aboms?  Oh my!

When you're not in cover or being flanked enemies deal 40% more damage against you.

 

You get no damage boosts related to cover.

I've had to play a lot of London lately, not by choice. London can be unforgiving at times, other times its a roflstomp. A lot of the usual pugs you see dying forget how much cover you can utilize to max your survivability. So many love the balcony until they get flanked on both ends and the jump up landing spot in the middle

You can hold the starting location (the true LZ) on London in a solo fairly well. Stand on the ramp and you've got RHA, and most enemies funnel towards you from straight ahead. You'll want to check the balcony now and then.

 

Interestingly I've also had luck in Platinum team games holding the ammo box near the big crate, opposite side of the map from the balcony. Two pairs on each side, kill fast.
