I am looking for the quickest and most broken way to beat Inquisition for a party setup and equipment. I have looked and looked but can't seem to find the perfect party setup to get thru the game quickly. I am not super good at the game, just curious on what the best way to play fast and easily so I don't have to pull up the main Tactical screen. Here is what my thought was

Assassin Rogue 2 dagger for inquisitor (main control)

2nd DPS archer (Cole with the bow that explodes with rune in it) plus hidden blades kills **** quick. Also mark of death stack is awesome

3rd  DPS Varric with Bianca does ridiculous damage with setup I found around here for crit chance

4th I don't have a clue a two hand warrior to take damage and build guard would be nice, but don't know for sure

I want to see if I can speed run the entire game and DLC in under a day skipping scenes and just doing DPS, but without wiping a lot.

Knight Enchanter hands down is the easiest way. Just stack crit and take the following abilities:

  • Arcane Barrage + either upgrade. Use a fire staff.
  • Fade Step + Chill upgrade
  • Winters Blast (Chill?) + Freeze damage upgrade
  • Spirit Blade (obviously)
  • Fade Cloak + Spirit damage upgrade
  • Static Cage + either upgrade
  • Focus Abilities
  • All passives possible.

Spam Fade Step and arcane barrage. If you time arcane barrage with Inferno buff you get to use it twice. Spam spirit blade. etc...

I just finished this playthrough. It was fun and efficient, if basic. I did spice it up once in a while by changing Static Cage for other abilities.

Note that this list is made with Friendly Fire in consideration. If you don't play with FF, take Fire Mine for extra lols.

You'll also want to have relatively independent folllowers. I suggest Blackwall as a tank, Sera or Varric for ranged archer, and Dorian for ranged. They all have self-healing / tanking abilities.

An argument can be made with Rift Mage + AOE party. Bonus points if you have Solas with you.

The single most game breaking factor in this game is Crafting. With tens of hours invested in hardcore Crafting-grinding, the game can become too easy. Without Crafting, it is another game altogether.

That being said, I believe the strongest setup for an Inquisitor to be Archer Artificer. You have tons of AOE damage (with Elemental Mines and Spike Trap), and extremely high Single Target damage - arguably not the highest, but still pretty freaking high. What makes the Artificer truly special is the passive Ability Opportunity Knocks. With a high Critical Chance (60% or more) you are pretty much Cooldown-free, all the time (making the Tempest's Fire Flask obsolete). Throwing Blades, Elemental Mines and Leaping Shots are spammable as long as there are things to be hit.
You should be aiming to achieve quite high Critical Chance and Critical Damage (about 60% and 200% respectively are good late game values).

Party composition is really not a big deal, since as an Artificer you have more than enough to take anything down anyway. Blackwall as a Tank and a Mage Barrier-bot are generally safe choices. Cassandra and Varric are good for their group buff, but you can also bring another Mage for Support and/or Barrier-bot.

Varric needs upgraded Bianca best upgrades in descent dlc until then Sera is better.

Yeah as spac3 said just craft best schematics and max critical on all characters. You should take one support and a bit of damage mage for static cage and barrier though. And rogue Varric should take toxic cloud. Quizzes can be a dps mage, rogue (artificer) or warrior (reaver). 4th slot in party is good for Cole as archer or Cass as Templar either defense or offensive boost through horn of valour and extra dispel. Bull is good but will die more than you want. Sera is better at mobs than Cole who is better for boss fights and dragons. But it is almost a wash.

More important than the party is crafting - exspecially if you have DLC and have the Golden Nug, craft into top gear much sooner, makes even nightmare a cake walk until at least level 20, then dempending where you go but, for a speed run, you'll be done by then.

I'll second what Space said. Artificer archer with crafted gear is ridiculous. Aim for 50-60% crit chance, then pump crit damage. Hook and tackle closes the gap, leaping shot is spammable due to opportunity knocks. Elemental mine use is a bit restricted if you're playing with FF on, but if like me you don't mind spending half of your fights with a dead tank, it still works amazingly well.

Oh, and for speed, hail of arrows is stupidly OP for boss killing. I don't even bother with mighty offence tonic, and no dragon or boss lasts longer than 10s.

If you have the Trespasser DLC, craft your mages an encore. Even with T1 mats, the buffs are amazing. When mark of the riff procs, your leaping shot spam destroys worlds.

Edit:https://youtu.be/9v6MhUZTayo

Some non-spoiler Jaws of Hakkon gameplay, crafting and the encore staff schematic are so broken. This is with a non-optimised party, for fun and hi-jinks. If you min-max, you'll end up as insanely OP as the guy in the video SpaceV3gan linked.

You can finish the game on Nightmare in 3 to 4 hours, including loading time, if you are willing to do some glitching. Explained here:

https://forum.speedd...inquistion.html

Even if you don't want to glitch, there is great advice in that thread on the sequence of quests and agents to acquire to minimize the amount of time running around gathering Power and Influence. Using that advice, I was able to get everything needed to start Champions of the Just in about an hour, from a new game start.

BTW, Champions of the Just is the faster of the two quests to complete -- you can run through most of the Fade part without listening to all the dialogue, so side with the Templars. This also makes the battle at the Well of Sorrows a bit easier.

As for class/specialization, the speed run guys all used a mage with no specialization, because doing the specialization quest takes time. Mage is good because Fade Step speeds up travel and there are plenty of non-specialization abilities for damage and protection.

Archer is also good -- the Envy demon battle is much easier with an archer vs. a mage. Any Archer specialization is good. I'd personally go Assassin since you can Stealth sneak past anything that would waste time. You could do that with any Archer, but you get more benefits from Stealth for an Assassin.

For party composition, if you are playing a mage, I'd go Cass for tank -- unless you are willing to go back to the Hinterlands to get Blackwall -- Solas and Varric. I'd swap in Cole (spec'd for Archer) for Varric as soon as you can, unless you are willing to spend time upgrading Bianca. It's kind of a wash, since no matter what rogue you take, you have to spend time upgrading their gear. I just find it easier to upgrade bows over Bianca, particularly with the Golden Nug providing all the best schematics. On the other hand, the AI does a slightly better job with Varric over Cole as an archer -- AI can't be trusted to use MoD correctly -- so I guess it doesn't matter.

If you playing an Archer, swap Dorian for Varric as soon as you get him.

For builds, I prefer mages to be all Inferno or all Winter for combat, with a little Spirit and then their specialization skills. From Storm, Energy Barrage and some passives are good. You can also go for Static Cage if you want, but I find Storm combat abilities relative weak, compared to Inferno and Winter.

Archer builds should go: Long Shot, First Blood, Explosive Shot, Pincushion, Death from Above, Leaping Shot. Then whatever else you want, including specialization. Point is, get Pincushion as soon as possible.

For tank, whatever you want. Hard to build Cass badly. That said, if you switch her to 2H, definitely get Flow of Battle as soon as possible and craft for crit. For 2H I like Pommel Strike and Whirlwind. For S&S I like the left hand side of the tree over the right. Make sure you invest in Battlemaster and Vanguard as well. Horn of Valor is a must, even if you have to use all your points to get it -- who doesn't want party-wide Guard on a spammable ability?

Finally, you can use Casual difficulty and breeze through set-piece battles.

Well you want the absolute easiest, most dishonest way to finish the game fast. Get Cheat Engine, Run Table 45 for DAI, launch game, activate God Mode, Blast through main quest line. Finish game at about level 15. No crafting, no need to get potions, change gear nothing, just blast through main quests and, whatever else gets in your way. Doesn't matter what party, what build, what gear, what anything that way.
