Throwaway plot or not, it's part of the story now. And there are only two old gods left anyway. So changing the dynamics of the Grey Wardens seems appropriate at this stage. This could play into what happened at Weisshaupt with Hawke or the surviving Warden.

I don't think it's laughable that a land that has not even heard of the darkspawn taint would hold a cure for it. The cure might be the type of thing that cures any blood illness or removes any curse. But if you want research to be involved as well, then the "cure" might just be a major component in cleansing the taint. I myself would find it more interesting to have this be one of several steps in developing a cure. Combing it with research from Avernus, the Architect, and maybe even a Circle Tower or two, would make for an entertaining main quest.

Let's not forget Avernus and his research, who's lived well beyond his life expectancy. Unlike many others, I was pained to decide as to drink the blood concoction made by Avernus to unlock the power of the blood and possibly living longer not for new skills I might add. Unsure of the ramifications of it, one thing's for sure, you live a heck of a long time longer than normal. But what you would be doing is further developing this taint in yourself not really removing it.

i don't want to remove the taint if it allow to prolong life and give extra power

That's the thing though, you don't know if later on it'll be the same thing as per normal, you'd still have the calling but in this case just more severe since you've drank it. Or not have it entirely, the whole thing is definitely a different discussion all together.

I included Avernus in my list, yes. My Hero's pain was in deciding to destroy the concoction or leave it be. He decided that destroying it would mean the Wardens suffered for nothing, so he let it sit.

My understanding of the concoction was that it provided a greater understanding of the taint, and thus allowed the Warden to master its power by tapping into it further. It isn't that it taints you more.
