Happy to hear the procedure went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery, one sip at a time.

Don't rush it, the games will still be there waiting for you when you get enough strength back to endure Pugs. ;)

And you very likely know this already because of your history - so it may help someone else with any nausea and dehydration: even swishing water or ice cubes in your mouth, without swallowing, will have some water absorb through the tissues in your mouth. That will provide some help even if you can't swallow it due to nausea.

Good to hear from you, SMR. Knew you'd be doing well. :)

Btw, now you'll have some serious gravitas when you say that dealing with <insert whaterver MP3MP BS mechanic> gave you cancer. Two varieties of it, even!

Were there any cute nurses in the hospital?

The procedure itself went very well. But as it is injectable radiation that stays in my liver forever (wears off after a few weeks) I am now walking around with radiation sickness. I don't know how they expect me to "stay hydrated" when I can't even hold down a sip of water. When they said "flu-like symptoms" I thought man I can handle that, of course I am the first patient they have ever done this procedure on so they really didn't know what I could expect other than what they'd read. I should mention that I have two rare types of cancer, and there are only around 60 documented cases like mine in the entire world.

The bad news is they only treat half the liver at a time, so I have to go back and do this all over again next month. The good news is that, since it is directly targeted, two sessions are all that are required. I may pop up on Origin or the forums in the coming days, but I don't think I have the energy to play atm.

Thanks for the overwhelming amount of support, it really made my day to read everyone's kind words.

I assume you stocked up on Rad-Away and took the right perks to mitigate these effects. You should be regenerating health right now, right? It's all about character build.

I hope you'll have a comfortable spot to watch the Steelers march into the playoffs.

So mission was a success. Though sucks to hear you'll be spending Christmas with the worst hangover ever. So here's hoping the nurses are hot.

If not, maybe I can hire and deliver a hot Quarian escort.

Great to hear everything went ok. I remember watching my mother go through intense radiation therapy and the torment on her body. Hopefully all is well from this treatment and the next.

On the bright side, you have a good chance to role play some fallout. Keep us all updated and get some rest.

I'm pleased to hear that it seemed to go well, although the symptoms are still there. I hope you feel better sooner than is expected.

Take care SMR!!  ^_^

I ended up going to the Emergency Room for most of the 24th, since they were worried that my constant vomiting would lead to electrolyte shock.  They gave me two bags of fluids, along with something even stronger than morphine.  Demerol, I think she called it?  That was the good stuff.  I did come home in time for Christmas though, speaking of which, Merry Christmas everyone!

And thank you again for the overwhelming support.  You guys are awesome.

Get better fast...because this whole nice/vulnerable version of you in this thread (in which you berate/belittle nobody and fail to 'educate' a single person in a glorious verbal explosion of flaming snark and superiority), well, to be honest, it's pissing me off.

I'm ready to have that other guy back...so get to it, eh? Screw livers, there's scrubs that need irradiating up in this joint!

Besides, this is a co-op/team sport, remember? I can only do so much...

Happy/Merry whatevers and stuff.

Of course everyone responds to these types of treatments differently.  In my case it's pretty much hell.  I try to get a few games in now and then, but 1-2 is usually the most I have the energy for.  Since I get to do this again later this month, I will probably be laying pretty low until mid to late March, I am guessing.

If you see me on Origin as "Away", it means I probably really am not even at my computer.  I don't spend much time on it lately.  I am trying to keep up with BSN at least, even if I don't post as much atm.

I used to leave the game/origin running, and my computer is usually on 24/7. Origin thinks I've played 5067 hrs of ME3. (It's lying...)
