Talked to my Radiologist today after a blood test, he said that the results show that the radiation is not harming the healthy parts of my liver, and that means we can go ahead with the second half of the treatment.

More good news is that it's really not half the liver at a time.  It's more like 2/3 and 1/3.  This was the 2/3 right lobe, the next stage would be the 1/3 left lobe, which is smaller and therefore will receive 50% less of the treatment.  So hopefully the next go-around won't be nearly as bad.  There's no date set in stone yet but we are looking at the first week of February.

Cheers, this toast is to your healthy liver!

Sometime after the second treatment, I will get a CT scan to compare with the one I had before we started.  There was a 5cm tumor in my right lobe, and on days 2, 3, and 4, it felt like that part was being repeatedly stabbed with a knife.  So I'm guessing that was a good sign that something was going right.  He also said that when tumors are destroyed, they release toxins into the bloodstream, and that is what would make me sick.  As sick as I've been these past few weeks, and as much as I have been sweating nonstop, are more good signs that it is working.  But we'll know for sure after the scan.

That cancer treatment action.  It's  faaaaan-tastic.  Ugh.

My buddy had Burkitt's lymphoma a few year back.  His aggressive treatments resulted in a highly disadvantageous combo:  raging hemorrhoids along with constipation.  When those two conditions collided...yeah...

it s a bit early to have one for your health :), but thats great news !

I dont know if its usefull for localized iradiations like this, but fasting helps the body a lot before chemo or radiotherapy, exposing cancer cells and making healthy ones shielding themselves.

Just got back from an overnighter with the left lobe of my liver now nice and irradiated.  Since that side is smaller, it got less radiation than the right lobe, and I actually don't feel much worse than I did before I went.  Full Recovery Mode: activated

PS hope you like your livers crunchy

First thing tomorrow morning I go in for a new breakthrough type of radiation surgery.  Of course there is a small chance of liver failure, and also of injectable radiation travelling to unintended organs, so if I don't make it back, don't eat my liver.  That is where 96% of the radiation is intended to go.  Best case, you will develop immediate and incurable stomach, intestinal, and anal ulcers, worst case, you will die.

I may not be playing ME3MP for a week, so please don't delete me Mgamerz

We will be waiting for you on Jade, 10 waves and your liver will regenerate, Aerial bombardment will insure extraction! Be there :wizard:

Dude I had no idea - I was off playing Fallout when you started this thread.  I've had Crohn's Disease for 30 years and had probably more than my fair share of needles and operations, but nothing on the scale you're dealing with. Well, maybe apart from that time I was dead for a minute! But seriously, you have all my best wishes and hopes for the future. And given me another incentive to buy that PC I was talking about, so we can play sometime.  And while it may sound trivial in the circumstances, I say that as someone who hasn't, couldn't and wouldn't ever shoot Mordin in the back.  :)
