Illogical Things You Can't Help Doing...

One of my favorite things about this game is that I'll do several things simply for the fun of it, instead of for the strategy.

Like, I always keep in my inventory for all my Quizzies:

Glass Fox

Silver Nug's foot token

One simple gold ring

Simply because the first one was the first valuable I ever picked up in DAI, the second made me laugh and think of gift-giving in DAO, and the third, as a total LOTR nut, made me laugh even more (knowing I was running around Thedas with the One Ring just casually in my pocket doing absolutely nothing).

And, I mean, when my inventory was full, many times, I never deleted these in any of 3 (to date) runthroughs. Because: mindcanon! Fiction! etc!

I also made Bull run around with that cheese wheel weapon (and the Sad Weapon) simply to make me laugh, and also wore TONS of outfits way past their armor levels (and constantly tinted them, as a stylish Dalish girl) simply because they were honestly way cuter and I figured I could DPS my way out of the carnage.

Last but not least, I may or may not have... decorated Skyhold in the decor of who I was romancing in that game... and changed outfits just for screen shots.

What silly or illogical things do you do in the DAI-verse?

My Dalish always keeps the Dalish Toy Soldiers, the Glass Hallas and the....other Dalish item I'm forgetting, lol.

This playthrough is the first one where I've romanced Solas and I can't help running up to him and clicking on him until he says "My heart" instead of the other things he might say. I think it's going to drive me nuts and I wonder if this is the real reason he's going to dump me later in the game.  :(

LOL -- it would drive me a bit nuts when he'd just say "Hello". I'm like, don't you mean vhenan?!? :P

I know, I'd get all anxious that he had dumped me and I didn't know it.  :o

Don't worry that doesn't happen...though I wouldn't put it past him.  <_<

I think I have one. I crafted magic resistance armors for my male human mage as well as Dorian when I played Descent. I was roleplaying that the raw lyrium veins were acting as described in the lore, that mages who even dare approach raw lyrium veins are killed by them. I also ended up leaving Dorian behind for that part anyway, but I used Fade Step to get over the veins on the ground, and I walked around and away from any veins on the walls. I even had my Inquisitor jump over a gap to avoid the normal path, which had raw lyrium veins.

I also got into the cave with the Scaled Ones codex by jumping from higher platforms with Sera. I didn't know there was a chore table operation to clear the rubble until after I went in there. I saw it on the chore table, but I thought it had been completed already.

I also crafted custom helmets for everyone so that their mouths would be covered when fighting all those darkspawn, even knowing that none of them would be tainted regardless. The only one who didn't have a helmet was Iron Bull. I sold his facemask soon after getting it, and could never find the schematic for it.

Not entirely silly but, I but everyone in "The Taken Shape" (Skin that....) armor ASAP since it's now on the Golden Nug. Some of them look good in it, others look silly in that dress but, oh well, at least everyone matches.

I also have to put everyone in blue and white as soon as I finish JoH.

Plain silly is that I put all purples in storage, even though I will never use them because crafted gear I'm using is better.

I put everybody in "The Taken Shape" armor too, ASAP. One thing it does to Blackwall is make him look like that weird Dwarf in Emprise du Lion...the one with the weird neck and head that don't go with the body. Check out Blackwall with that armor...it makes me think he's where they got the idea for the weird Dwarf. That armor also gives him skinny arms so it's not a good fit at all for Blackwall.

Yes, this. I save all unique weapons/armor in storage even though I know I won't use them since I'm able to craft better stuff. I dunno, I guess I view them as some sort of throphies/achievements. I never even look at them afterwards.

I keep trying to play a dwarf with a magic glowing hand. That's illogical and fun. :P

The most illogical thing I've done was jumping from tower, wall, tavern every roof in Skyhold. And invading Venatori camp in the Hissing Wastes from above

Spoiler

Also collecting unique weapons and armor.

I've left a couple of valuables where they were, out of respect to the dead. The Blood-Soaked Child's Doll in The Exalted Plains, for instance.

I kept "Too Many Breeches".

Oh, and I left that doll where it was too.

I invaded the Venatori camp from the outer edge in the middle, then went left out through that exit, then back up the cliffs and ambushed the rest from above. I don't think that was illogical. It was fun.

In the female Dalish mage playthrough I'm messing with now, she wears Falon'Din's vallaslin and she only uses the hooked staff design. The one that looks like a shepherd's hook, because Falon'Din's staff has that shape. Problem is, these are both low level staffs from the beginning of the game.

On one playthrough I gave Dorian a chain lightning ring received from Maevaris Tilani's war table mission. I imagined it as a gift to him from her and kept it on him for the entire game, long after he stopped using chain lightning.

I always pick up the doll and carry with me for the rest of my PC's life, no matter how short of room my inventory has.

The first time I got a war table reward from Alistair and from Zevran, I carried them around too but then I found a lot more of them so I stopped carrying them, esp since my IQ wouldn't have a reason to think they were special, even if my Wardens did have a reason.

In Skyrim, I was always running into stores and accidentally jumping on counters.

Whenever I'm at Haven, I need to go the underground prision and hit the suspended candle with the tip of my staff and see it bounce around. It's weird and pointless like that...

I put every single purple item in storage because it's culturally significant and I can't countenance vendoring that stuff, even if I know I'll never use it.

I save all the purple stuff as well, and even a few of the uniquely named blue items.

I will make a special trip back to Hissing Wastes to get the last 2 or whatever notes I missed the first time around.

I play with helmets turned off but I will turn them on for pictures at the bear monument because Cole's hat is hilarious.

When returning to one of my early characters I played before any DLC came out, I had to go back and collect all the missing mosaic pieces before I could start Trespasser.

Jumping off of anything to see if I can get hurt or not.

Overloading myself unintentionally with stuff

Selling those stuff

Ingoring The annoying requisition person

Trying to jump off of with all stuff with a horse

Tests to see if the horse dies if I jump off a certant distance.

Mining, picking anything that deals with crafting. I can't walk pass a plant and not pick it for my crafting fetish.

My elf characters try not to kill hallas. If they do accidentally kill those fine beasts, they become emo for a long time after.
