"Here... take a bite off this cake.... You like it? You may take another one in several months. There will be a third bite eventually, but only if enough people want to eat it."

I liked The Wolf Among Us by Telltales...but only because I buyed it complete! I would have hated wait for months for the end of the game! I barely resisted for ME...

I don't hate episodic games, but for me are completely invisible until are complete, and I can buy the entire game (maybe even payng less than buyng every time the episodes).

I don't like the idea of having to wait months to continue a game. Why I've never tried an episodic game.

IMO, this is just another jab at the endings of ME3.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

No.

Even BioWare releases a full game I don't want to see choices made in one game get carried over to the next game. Most of these decisions had very small impact on story, well, for Dragon Age and Mass Effect series at least. They are pain in the ass in game development either. I prefer decisions made early in a game will heavily affect story later on. Saints Row 3 is a good example. We get a good "choice that matters" story, developers can devote more resources into game development. Everybody is happy.

Nope. Surely it'd kill the exploration aspect as well, if we only get the galaxy one chunk at a time.

The reason why they were releasing it in episodes anyway was because they wanted to get the game out as quickly as possible, they are a business first and foremost, and people have been clamoring for this remake for over a decade now. This however isn't a graphics update, they are doing an entire retelling of the tale, and are obviously making changes to how the game looked, sounded, was written and of course played. It's going to be larger in scope than the original, without even mentioning things like side quest and optional dungeons/bosses scenarios, it's a massive undertaking for something that was 20 years ago capable of being turned out in a few years (3 supposedly), by comparison Dragon Age Inquisition was in development for 4 years, and that game is arguably smaller in scope than Final Fantasy 7 was or close to the same size in terms of all the things you could possibly do (this not withstanding things like customizable histories of the world or who you chose to flirt with.)

So to answer the question, should BioWare use the episodic route, only if they planned on writing a story that was essentially one super long movie/series but knew they couldn't get it all done within a normal development cycle period (2 to 3 years).

Let's not over look that this could also mean the games themselves could be cheaper, Telltale games episodic series of games generally don't cost 60 US dollars each episode, though if the series goes beyond X number of episodes it could cost more though by that point you either are really enjoying the games and thus the bang for your buck vs your enjoyment factor is satisfied anyway, or you didn't like the first one or the second one and ended up saving yourself some money in the long run.

Only if they charge the right price for it. No paying for an episode at the price of a full game. If there are 6 episodes, I expect them to be 10 dollars each, or 3 episodes at 20 each - you get the idea.

Besides, I'd hate for it to go "Will the protagonist ever make it out alive? Stay tuned for the next episode of Dragon Ball Z Mass Effect!" when you reach a certain point in the game

Whilst I do like Life is Strange  I didn't play it until all the parts were out really so I wouldn't recommend going episodic with any games let alone Bioware's really. i prefer a game that takes time to work my way through rather than one I can be done with in a couple of days especially given I'm a single player type guy primarily. This is why I love Bioware's games as they take me at least a full week just to negotiate 1 playthrough through one of the games and in fact both DAO and DAI take about 2 weeks each for me to nergotiate per playthrough. Not because I dobn't enjoy them but because they genuinely aer that big. I genuinely ;like this about Bioware's games and that's why as long as this continue4s I'll continue to play them. Because they give us a good quantity of quests to complete and a good swtoryline to back it up. Granted I can understand why some may have been a little annoyed with the fetch quests and all that in DAI but for the most part Bioware have done a pretty good job in most areas.

Please don't give them anymore ideas. BioWare is already doing this crap in SWTOR and it is boring as hell.

Not a Mass Effect RPG, at least, and certainly not with Andromeda.

What Tell Tale did with Tales from the Borderlands however I can see happening. I want BioWare to branch out the franchise a bit, and an episodic adventure game is a nice touch.

I do not think it could work with a game like Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

It seems doable for a MMO, as BW are trying episodic content with SWTOR, but it still hasn't really started, so hard to say how that will turn out. MMOs need a constant "carrot on the stick" for players to keep p(l)aying. Big RPGs do not, as you buy the game and that is it.

However, I would not be opposed to seeing a "Telltale-like" game from Mass Effect or Dragon Age universe. Just not as the main game.

I guess I'm still waiting on Half-Life 2 Episode 3 so, what's so bad about episodic installments?

From gamer perspective i like the idea because each part can be an amazing adventure even as a standalone game. However there is still a high risk about that each part can't be success enough to even continue the story. Example : Devil May Cry and Xenosaga series.
