Why are you using Overload on a Brute? Seriously why?
To detonate the fire explosion I just set up?

PPR with Incindiary IV is pretty good for getting fire explosions through overload, works great on the TGI or the Tsent.
Overload does do some armor damage by itself, for me it's more of a habbit to break the cloak with overload regardless of which target I'm going for.
That said I don't play either PPR/Tsent or PPR/TGI in team games anymore since I consider it to be a bit OP, but I used to run it frequently a long time ago, and I don't really mind if pugs do the same these days.

I'm often going to Overload a pure armor target because it has mooks nearby that will be hit by the chain overload.

There are some kits that go great with Snap Freezers. Like Smashguard, as the snap freeze stagger makes for better close quarter combat.
