I just had a Vancouver/Gold game where the host was using a SR and camping the upper level.  He insisted that the rest of us do not go down to the lower level, presumably so that the enemies can spawn only on the lower level, making nice easy targets.  After being ignored, he threw a hissy fit and rage-quit.

What do you guys think?  Would you have joined in camping the upper level or do your own thing?

I would stay in the upper area as requested and apply shockwave treatment. Preferably right behind his back.  ^_^

For vancouver specifically, I'd prefer people in the side room with the ammo box to protect vs flanks, and safe ammo trips if I was sniper camping the balcony. Lower level spawns are pretty much filed into your FoV as is.

But for being an audible rager, i would give him the shakes.

Makes sense for the camper.  However, my question is directed at the other players.

"Nihlus, you're camping with us?"

"I move faster on my own."

So yeah, while others camp, I just run around and kill stuff/get killed by stuff.

I personally would mess with him if he was prone to salt.

I play like I want... depending on mood/kit I might camp, I might roam, I might die a dozen times surrounded by Marauders and Ravagers... but I certaintly don't care about what someone else wants to do unless they make that clear in the lobby, thus giving me a choice to leave without losing consumables.

You want to camp? Play pure biotics? Tech team? All turian/asari/krogan? Modded game? I've got no problem with that as long as I'm told before the game starts. Complaining about it afterwards is not going to work.

I'm fairly flexible when it comes to requests like that, after all they are either challenging, hilarious or at least interesting to some degree. Just don't try to impose your rules on my fun without giving me a chance to prepare for it first. Don't know about you but I'd rather not go sniping with a Venom. :P

I like running round the map, admiring the scenery.

And killing things at the same time, if possible.

Camping can work, but sometimes you have to go alone if your teammates keep picking bad spots to hang around. The upper level of Vancouver does give some pretty good advantages though you and your teammates need to know when to run when a big concentration of bosses comes up the ramp.

It was a pug game, which means you should never expect people to follow a singular strategy.

He was basically saying "You should all play the way I want you to play".

So screw that guy and do your own thing.

Wayward PUGs, they'll never learn! ;)

I'd say entitled PUGs are the worst PUGs, they deserve to be punished by Aboms bombardment.

NO, I would be running around like a wildman killing things faster than he can reload cancel, eating some pizza if it pops up and finding some gourmet cheese in those objective devices.

Last night some guy using cain mines got pissed off because i killed a banshee before she would have tripped his mine setup and ended the wave. Same idea with his strategy, camp in an area of the map and hope you snare some enemies, when usually you can kill them faster than hoping they will eventually pop the mines.

The higher ground portion of the Vancouver map is better, especially for long-ranged kits. Short-ranged ones, out of necessity need to keep moving. The problem arises when one stays too long below and another too long above at the same time - then the spawns become wonky and you are liable to get yourself in a crossfire.

When I'm playing a sniper, I usually occupy the upper half, when I play more of a caster/CQC, I run around depending on enemy spawns. However I don't stay long in the LZ portion of the map - much too open.

Absolutely, unequivocally NOPE. NOPER. NO.

DevilMotrin makes the point...if you want a theme, cool...themes are fun, just let me know, but there will be no calling plays. It is conceivable that I might take direction from a quarterback, but that person will never be some random scrubby PUG that I just happened into a game with.

The only director I would possibly follow would be someone that:
- I have played with before and totally respect
- is much, much better than me
- is more knowledgeable than me about game mechanics
- would never, because they are fantastically awesome, go into a game and start to order people around

The group of folks meeting these requirements probably exists only in my imagination.

What what I do in the situation you describe? Well, it would start with several varieties of verbal abuse, including attacks on this persons intelligence, parentage, social status and future expectations. Simultaneously, I'd endeavor to implement any and all gameplay-based harassments I could think of... from shockwave treatments and melee attacks to kill-stealing and denying completion of objectives. I would gleefully seek to communicate my intense disapproval in every way that came to mind.

But that's just me...

Remind me not to annoy you.  :D

In my case, I just made it a point to stay at the lower level until he rage-quit.

Ah, that's what I'm doing wrong.

I have a tendency to play sniper the way I play everything else.

So close I could poke the enemy's eye out with the barrel.

Edit:

I don't snipe much

How do you camp on Vancouver.

When the map first came out, campers made a campfire in the office at the top and held on for dear life
