Why does that tune randomly play when questing? - from Samson's Tale tavern song

I was playing Jaws of Hakkon last night, running around the open world area killing some spiders, when that little tune played again.   It's this one only without the lyrics - https://youtu.be/FbYuvl924AY  - the first few seconds of it play every now and then and it seems random.  Yet I wonder if it signifies something?  None of my team levelled up, we weren't completing a quest and it's not the Origin achievement jingle so I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

I've always assumed it was random. I started a new playthrough today and got it while frolicking in the Hinterlands. I've heard other tunes play for a few seconds as well, although I couldn't recognize them like I could Samson's song. The weirdest part to me is that it stops so quickly... What's the point of adding atmosphere music if it shuts off just as you begin feeling all inspired?

I know, it's odd.  I think 'oh I must've done something awesome!'  but nope, don't think I did.

I kinda like the music, but am puzzled too lol.

It doesn't signify anything. That is just how they designed the music to be while you are in zones.

"Ambient music is unrelated to banter, but works in a similar fashion. We wanted each area to have its own unique character and flavor. When you are running around the Storm Coast, or the Hinterlands, or the Hissing Wastes, the ambient sound of animals, wind, and weather evoke a living, breathing world. In order to achieve this, we chose to use music more sparingly to occasionally enhance the mood. These brief music cues of about 10-30 seconds in length will fire on average every 1-3 minutes."

Oh my, your Christmassy avatar is pretty fabulous I must say.   :)

Thanks for that, I was convinced it had to have a purpose.  Oh well, mystery solved.
