Hello. I'm planning on making a Iceman Infiltrator run on Mass Effect 1. That's my favorite build in both ME2 and 3 and I wanted to give it a try in ME1 as well.

I know the game mechanics of ME1 are very different from the others, and the cryo rounds don't actually freeze enemies, but I wanted to try this just for fun.

So let's begin the build:

  • Cryo Rounds for all my squadmates.
  • I will try Snowblind rounds later, but the rate of fire penalty maybe will make me drop that idea. Let's see. The fact that Snowblind rounds has a completely different mechanic than Cryo Round (raw damage vs. shield bypass) it's another problem.
  • How do I get Cryo Rounds as soon as I can in the game? I know Cryo Rounds starts at level IV. What level my Shepard has to be to start getting level IV upgrade items from Crates?
  • I've noticed that Throw power damages health bypassing Shields. Since Cryo Rounds in ME1 also bypasses shields, I think Throw will be a good power to have in my team.
  • So my Squadmates will be Liara, Kaidan or Wrex.
  • Throw will be my bonus power. Usually I don't like to mix biotic powers with my tech based characters. Adding Throw to an Infiltrator will make him a Sentinel. But since I only have finished ME1 with 2 characters (Infiltrator and Adept), only Biotic powers became available for bonus powers. And you have to pick one. So, I'm imagining that it will be a tech-based or combat based power similar to Throw. Like Concussive Shot for instance. Max Throw as much as you can.
  • Focus on Marksman and Assassin to increase weapon damage and make the most of the Cryo Rounds shield bypass.
  • Don't focus on Overload since this powers excels at damaging shields and Cryo Round bypasses shields. So it's best to focus on the other tech based powers because their debuff/crowd control features like Sabotage and Damping.

What do you guys think? Thanks for your attention.

If you want other bonus powers, you can play as another class just until you unlock the bonus power you want.
For example, it's possible to start a new game as the engineer and play until unlocking Hacking, which is the best bonus power for the Infiltrator. You can also download a Level 60 save game and keep replaying Eden Prime, to make things easier. Same thing for Assault Rifles, and you don't even need to play as the Soldier to unlock it.

I think you'll have to focus on Cryo Rounds, since Snowblind rounds are not worth the cost.
A way to obtain them early is to use console commands, if you're willing. Keep in mind that Cryo Rounds will only be spawned during a certain part of your level progress (from around level 10 to level 36, if I'm not wrong) and will never appear again after. So save every Cryo Rounds upgrade that you get.

Electronics is still worth putting points into. Not only it'll give you Overload, which is still useful even with the shield bypass (since it does only partial damage), but it will also boost your shields and allow you to open certain crates.
