putrid moobs.....i was about to go to bed. I'll have nightmares now. Thank you, kind sir!
The flaw to bioware romances is that sex is the reward. Adults don't behave like this teenagers do. Sex shouldn't be the "end" of a relationship arc, I'd much rather sex happen far earlier in the relationship like it does with MOST adult relationship and progress past the point of sex being the reward and instead explore relationship past sexual encounters.
The inclusion of nudity or not isn't a sign of quality or maturity so frankly talking about better romances and caging that conversation with or without nudity on screen is a fallacy. And frankly people trying to steer the conversation in that direction USUALLY have an agenda that has nothing to do with their stated reasons for not having nudity.
But i liked Samara's romance ![]()

What's so wrong about it? it saves me from stopping everything just to get a strap on ^^ but as i said, plain yuri suits me better
That's why we have Skyrim and Fallout 4 (eventually). What modders can't do is to make the scenes romantic like the voices, the animation, and the camera angle. I don't care much for the sex scene, but maybe the romantic scene that make me feel fuzzy. Full sex scenes wouldn't be able to publish on Sony and Microsoft and that's where they get the bulk of their money. I'm wanting romantic scenes without underwear.

Hey EVERYBODY knows sex sells and sells a lot of it so why not? Just rate it A for adults instead of M for mature so people could know.
Sony and Microsoft don't want to associate with adult and sex in general. That's why there is no sex game on console and all Japanese visual novels remove the sex parts when porting to PS2 and PS3.

OK understandable. OK I have a idea of how they can change that:They can set up a petition to the government for a law for adult sex policy of explicit sex scenes to minimum like softcore-porn for instance never above that scale, if the sex scenes are violent, something to do with torture like snuff films, degrading women, or (God forbid) child pornography it will never be published and punishable by paying heavy fines and lawsuit if they violated the sex scene minimum law for A for adult rating. That way it will not be issues on either sides.
It's not illegal for either consoles to publish it, but they don't want to, simply because it would attach a certain image to the console they don't want to associate with. The petition wouldn't be to the government but to Microsoft and Sony. The rating itself is handled by different groups like ESRB (in America), not by the companies or the developers. Either ways, it's not the ratings that make the game banned by Sony and Microsoft but the content itself. It can't be above a certain level.

I still think it's a good idea for setting up "The Adult Content Explicit Minimum Guideline" A rating games. OK they can install a patch to allow adult content in video games and parental security system by setting up your own security codes for access to adult content games. That way they can develop safety for underage children and avoiding lawsuits, I say it's a win-win.
There's already an AO (adults only) rating. Microsoft and Sony just don't want those games on their console.

That guideline is not dictated by Sony or Microsoft or even the government. In America, the ratings is set by ESRB, a non-profit organization. Rating in itself is not the problem, it's about the companies themselves, which are Sony and Microsoft, who refuse to let adult content published on their system. It's not about limiting access to younger audience, it's about Sony and Microsoft don't want to associate with sex games. It has a negative attachment to the company's name. It's not lawsuit or anything, it's about them feeling that being associated with adult contents would negatively affecting their sales and brand name. If you can somehow change the Sony and/or Microsoft's mind then by all means.

It's very bad idea. who will decide guideline. you? me? some prude who thinks Liaras nipple is made by satan? No game censorship. make everything you want to make and if some country according to it's laws want to bad it fine I think they shouldn't but whatever.

It's an idea, an idea that is too good to pass up. But hey who knows? Maybe the ESRB eventually come around to it sooner or later.
Even if they come around, that doesn't mean anything since it's not them you need to convince, it's Sony and Microsoft you need to convince since they're the one who say what game can be published on their system. If the content is too objectionable, they would refuse to carry it.

Hanar. I want a Hanar romance option who says to you, "This one is sexually aroused."
I once proposed in the DA forums that sex should be a mini game. In my example, the broodmother's boobs were to be put back in place in a Bejewelled style puzzle.
Gross! But funny! How about a mini-game a sex scene with Morrigan or Leliana of different sex positions, the goal is to make them climax and crying to a squirting orgasms clear or thick? That's for the NSFW fan version though not in the actual game (hey one can dream right?)
I pretty sure I play something like this, but I think it was Morrigan and desire demon, but even if I could put link on this forum I can't find it.

Some people have no sense of humor or fun.
As too the romances (cheap and otherwise) I found that it makes the various PCs more relatable to me. For me saving the world or galaxy is all good but as Mordin said it is very hard to anthomporhize a galaxy. I need the PC to have a personal stake and wanting to be someone who they care for and want to be with is often a good way to do it.
Whew, this thread's going freaking fast. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I agree. I think we all kind of have our reasons to enjoy (or maybe dislike) romances. Characters being relatable is something I can definitely understand. That's a good point. For me, it is also about getting to know a character I like on a deeper level. I've gained a completely new insight into some characters after romancing them (or watching their romance) because some things they only dare to share with a lover, some sides (positive or negative) of them you only see then, and that makes sense. It is also about shaping my own character. My first Shepard's story and personality wouldn't be what it was without going through all the mess with the Virmire Survivor. It's another hypothetical situation to put my character through and see what it does to their development. Makes me more emotionally invested, too. I'm pretty okay with sacrificing my own character otherwise. While having another character caring about them, not so much.
I've never played for romances and I will never play for romances. (I played through the NWN's original campaign the first time completely missing there was one. I started DAO knowing very little about how great the character interaction is. In ME1 I was planning not to romance anyone the first time around... only to change my mind later.) But once they're in the game, they add more options, more roleplay, character development, replay value, etc. And given it's a BioWare's thing and they've been adding it into pretty much all their games forever, I'd say it's worth discussing as anything.

I prefer there to be some variety in how the romance plays out. It may make sense since romanceable characters might need some time before deciding whether or not to engage in a relationship perhaps due to circumstances or even plot-related reasons.
I also hope that sex is optional with some romances since I liked how some romances in Inquisition were written to be interpreted as sexual or non-sexual and I believe that in Dorian romance, you could choose to ask him to wait because you thought the two of you should learn more about each other.
