Morrigan and Leliana. They are the most complex, more true to a real-life person than any other with the exception of perhaps Loghain. Morrigan in particular. With Leliana, her gray qualities are more in the past unfortunately.

Morrigan: the smart, beautiful and mysterious Witch of the Wilds. Perfect companion and LI for my Warden. At first she may seem like the typical cold, scheming, evil 'Morgan Le Fay' character, but once you get to know her it's obvious that there's much more to her than that. Deep down she has a good heart. I do like that she is unpredictable, possibly even dangerous and that you can't ever really trust her. Morrigan is selfish, power hungry and sometimes cruel. She doesn't hesitate to use others for own advantage - nor should she. She is without a doubt the most interesting character of Dragon Age: Origins.
Zathrian: Zathrian is one of the best Dalish elf NPC's so far (I also liked Ameridan, actually probably even more than Zathrian). He has that powerful, but calm elven aura that few other elves these days possess. Sadly most of the other Dalish we've seen have not been so different from the short lived, hot tempered city elves and shemlens than what they'd probably like to think (exception would probably be the ones Marric and Loghain met in The Stolen Throne, and - possibly - Clan Lavellan). I always side with Zathrian and help him kill the werewolves. According to the epilogue he grew tired of the ever changing world and disappeared soon after the end of the Fifth Blight. If so then it is truly a sad loss for the Dalish.
Oghren: my favorite dwarf! Funny, grumpy and always drunk. I already liked him in Origins, but it was Awakening that made him one of my favorite characters. It was good to have one familiar person in Amaranthine and he became my Wardens best friend. Together we defeated the Archdemon, the Mother and the Father. Also he felt like the only companion in DAA who actually wanted to become a Grey Warden. If the next game is going to focus on the Warden problems in Weisshaupt then I would certainly like to see my dwarven friend again.

Alistair will always have a place in my heart.
He was my first BioWare romance, and his sense of humor and sometimes awkward demeanor will always been endearing to me. He's always reminded me a bit of my RL boyfriend, too.
Morrigan is in my top favorite characters ever. Listening to her tell my Warden that she was her friend was such a beautiful moment, definitely one of my favorites in the game. I would have liked the opportunity to romance her as a lady, but I guess that's what mods are for.
Sten was a really fun introduction to Qunari, and I liked having the Warden mess with him juuuust a little. Shale's sarcasm is amazing.
And as far as non-companions go, Anora and Teagan earned my love pretty fast.
DAO had such a great cast of characters I feel like I'm probably forgetting some.

Alistair, Leliana and Wynne were my main and first playthrough party. Range, heals, backstabbery and a tank. I also thought Alistair was adorkable and his chats with Wynne were cute. Another reason why they were my main was because they were “good” so it was easier for me to have my Warden run around and be a good guy without losing approval left and right.
I also liked Sigrun (I wish I could’ve romanced her) and Nathaniel. For minor characters, I liked Finn and Ariane well enough. Ohgren could be pretty fun too, but I already had Alistair as my main man.
And my dog x) I loved the little “you can’t keep him” chat I had with him when in Denerim he ran off and returned with a kid he basically kidnapped from somewhere.

Morrigan is awesome, I love Zevran and of course there's my great affection for my puppy, Runt. They all tie for first place in my heart. Then it's Sten, Shale and Nathanial.
My #1
is Cullen but he wasn't offered as a party character
and I really liked Duncan too. ![]()

Shale was my first big favourite - she's hilarious and kicks arse.
Also, Dog, of course.
Duncan too - I knew he was a Doomed Mentor the minute I met him but damn, he's so handsome and he has a really nice voice.
Caridin - ok, I have a huge soft spot for him. Again: voice. And he's a very tragic character.
Jowan - poor man just fucks up no matter what he does. He's a walking disaster.
Anders - he had me at loving cats. And he has a lot of funny banter.
Oghren - Amon as a drunken dwarf? Sign me the **** up.
Sister Food Puns - you know the one, the sassy old lady in Denerim.
Wade and Herren - ok I'm convinced these two are lovers.

Shale-both her commentary and the spellpower boost she gives my mages.
Dog-a terror to mages-and everyone else on 4 legs.
Zevran-a good dual wielder with good commentary.
Loghain and Anora-I like both of them.

Loghain. My Orlesian Warden Commander is effectively his blonde counterpart from across the border, and I'd make my Hero of Ferelden, my Hawke and my Inquisitor just like him too if I thought Thedas could withstand the sheer awesomeness of five Loghains. And if I didn't think it would make me a fanatic on some level. And if it wouldn't somewhat undermine the awesomeness of the true, unabridged and quintessential Loghain MacTir, which would obviously be blasphemy.
Morrigan. I find her intelligent and funny and very stimulating company, on top of being very beautiful. And I like the thought of my Dalish Warden bonding with her over being strangers to human civilization far from home, forming a strong and healthy friendship that helps them both with no silly infatuations or seductions.
Sten. It's so rare that you experience actual culture shock while playing fantasy games, most fantastical societies are somehow instantly recognizable, but the strange thoughtfulness of the Qunari really makes Sten feel like a genuine alien, and one with a presence to him. He manages to establish himself as a powerful and inspiring person even in the context of a culture we barely know anything about, and the thought of leaving him out of the party in favor of Oghren just because he doesn't have a primary specialization makes me feel faintly ill.

Alistair
Anders (and Sir-Pounce-A-Lot, of course!)
Justice
Wynne
Oghren
Dog
Nathaniel...
Some non-compaions:
Seneschal Varel
Shianni
Flemeth
Riordan
Duncan
Wade & Harren

Edit: I FORGOT Dagna! ![]()
Heh. I like a lot of them. Difficult for me to narrow down the list to "favorites."
Oghren - Amon as a drunken dwarf? Sign me the **** up.
LOL
Wade and Herren - ok I'm convinced these two are lovers.
I've always thought so. ![]()
I certainly do have a soft spot for Jowan. And lots of sympathy. ![]()

I think Alistair is the best character in DAO by far.
I was playing as male wardens for a while, and I think he might be my favorite bro in all of gaming. He's so well written, he's funny, and if you make him king, he has a great arc. I then decided to play as a female warden and holy crap is this guy completely different if romanced. I think he might be one of the best written Bioware characters now.
Morrigan, I don't really see the growth many claim she goes through. I started out really liking her look, her voice, her deliveries, etc. But as DAO went on, she annoyed me more and more. She's really obnoxious at times, and what she does at the end is a true betrayal if you ask me. Especially since I did the human noble run first.
Leiliena is a character I didn't give a damn about at first. But I experienced the opposite with her. I romanced her and listened to all her dialogues and I truly enjoyed her character.
Basically I like everyone except Zevran. I will hold off on judging Morrigan until I completed DAI. But I think Alistair is my favorite.

...tough question! Overall i do not want to answer that question, but for certain aspects:
voice = shale
dialogue = zevran
looks = morrigan
story arc = sten
comments = oghren
Guess that does not leave any room for Alistair and Wynn...

Alistair because he was my first romance
His being awkward and hilarious at the same time make him more attractive I think. He will always be a special character for me. I hope my warden and Alistair will reunite one day...
Sten was an interesting character at first. He didn't talk too much and this kind of reminded me of myself - being silent and all.
I was happy when he called my female warden "kadan" So whenever I play Origins he and my warden are BFF ![]()
I liked Morrigan and Leliana but they are not really my favorite characters because Morrigan always disapproved my actions. Leliana always talked about Chantry and her faith and it got boring after a while. But still I don't hate them.
Oghren was funny but too drunk for me
Anders and Nathaniel are my other favorite characters. I don't have any specific reasons to like them
I hope we get to see Nathaniel again. And of course Ser Pounce-a-lot and Sigrun. Sigrun and Oghren ftw

I really like all characters of DA. And it’s hard to choose the best one.
I think that my favorites are Morrigan and Zevran. It’s interesting to communicate with them and they are powerful and useful companions in any mission.
Also I want to name Alister. His loyalty and faith make him a good companion in arms.
