Despite Bioware point blank saying that wasn't the case?

Its people deliberately ignoring what the folks who write the game have to say on the issue to have their fanfiction.

I require a source.

Bio's already said that scene was on the Citadel. Where'd you guys ever get the idea that Shepard would magically re-enter Earth's atmosphere, anyway? The Citadel was in orbit, and would stay in orbit.

Oh, we've thought about it, all right.

Anyway, the real problem with IT isn't so much that Bio never intended it, or even that it's nonsense. Bio can retcon it into being true even if it is nonsense, so this isn't an obstacle. The problem is that IT is hated.

I require a source, when did Bio say that?

Only if you think the giant liquid metal death beam that's blowing apart tanks and turning alliance soldiers into pillars of ash is part of some ridiculous plot to somehow influence the mind of Shepard...you figure there would be a easier way of exposure to Reaper influence then firing their main gun at him.

Seriously the folks who cooked up that theory are nearly as ridiculous as Bioware for expecting me to suspend disbelief at Shepard surviving that when it can penetrate dreadnoughts.

Commander Shepard is dead.

Yours might be, but mine is alive and is currently in Vancouver having drinks with Samantha

Long live The Shepard.

Yes she will. Not as the Shepard, but as Shepard

By none more so than you Alan, to be fair. It's not hated by everyone. And let's face it, the vanilla endings as they stand are unlikely to make many people's top ten list of greatest endings ever.

Not exactly true. I can't actually work up to "hatred" for something I don't take seriously, so I can't get much further than amused contempt for IT. However, I'll agree that very few posters here are able to match my level of contempt for the theory, or for the mushy thinking which spawned it. I suppose that's close enough to your point for BSN purposes.

Note that my argument's only ever been with people who think that IT is true. If someone's just saying it's a fun way to think about the ending, I've got no argument, and maybe no opinion at all. (Though most flavors of IT also have fundamental logic problems too, I'm not yet convinced that this is conceptually insoluble.)

I'd be against retconning IT into existence for the sequel, but I'm against all retcons in general, not an IT retcon in particular.

Harbinger did not fire his main gun. The main gun on the Harbinger class Reapers is betwen his "legs" he was fiering his secondary armament, and sure they would have killed any person if the laser hit him directly but both the game and the IT disprove that. What some people are speculating is that Harbinger tried to weaken Shepard so that he can be controlled.

And why is it so ridiculous? Indoctrination has played a large role in the game. From Rana Thanoptis to the Illusive man, i after reading the codex on indoctrination i believed it would come into play later on and that we would have to battle it someday. I'm not asking you to believe it but you must admit that it is at least plausible. I do realize that the IT opens more questions then it closes but i think that's the reason we have that cutscene in the end where the child is speaking with his grandfather in that snowy forest, where the man says that he has another story about the Shepard. I understand completely why people wouldn't believe it and i completely understand people who do believe it. Again only time will tell.

P.S. You still didn't give me the source i was asking for.

Sovereign Class is the deg on those vessels by the way, but anyway. Point being it was slagging tanks and turning folks into vapor, and shep survived? It was dumb, dumb for Bioware to do it and dumb for folks to take it for something that it wasn't. I can suspend disbelief if say Shepard got buried underneath a tank that did a little flip or something and thus avoided the majority of the blast, heat and lethality of such a attack, but nope it just slid down the ground and came within square inches of the fellow and there he goes stumbling into the beam to decide the fate of the galaxy.

You require a source, I require something better then mindless supposition.

The extended cut disproves IT, Citadel wasn't the miracle that camp thought it'd be, the discussion is over as far as I am concerned given Bioware never actually even made it vaguely implied in any of the endings that are given in the finale. You either destroy, control or make green hued robot meat people things...So if you actually want a comment from a developer after the ending wasn't even offered as a option I have little more to say to then I wish the Illusive Man wasn't tossed under the bus in this crummy story line.

"Also known as Sovereign-class, the two-kilometer-long Capital Ships are the most well-known Reaper subtype. Their main weapon is a spinal mounted "magnetohydrodynamic" cannon with a yield of 132 to 450 kilotons of TNT, which dwarfs the main gun of an Everest-class Alliance dreadnought. No known ship, not even a dreadnought, has been known to survive a hit from this weapon."

Am i missing something?

Listen.

HBO flat out said Jon Snow was dead and not coming back. This has pretty much been proven false and everyone is expecting to see Kit Harrington back next season.

This means that Bioware can lie about Shepard all they want.

The only reason why Shepard and squad didn't get killed on the beam run, if ems is above 2000, was because they  sprayed themselves with laser reaper repellent. After the what-the-crap evac scene, the repellent wore off causing Shepard to be injured. Of course both squadmates repellent wasn't strong enough to with stand Harbingers beam, if ems is below 2000

At first i thought i was somehow wrong, and the i read your post and realized you were referring to the male reproduction organ.

I realize you won't change your mind and that you believe the IT is BS and i understand that, so i wont bore you with more replies (not that i dont have any more arguments i just think its a "waste" od time) again only time will tell.

Oh. It's one of those threads. Why does anyone believe that Bioware would take a fan theory (yes, it's a fan theory and not any type of canon besides head canon) and work it into their next game?

Do you really see that happening? Because...  damn, son.

No problem! You can call it Dick tho. Most guys name it after something. I don't know, i don't have it so that impulse of naming a body part after my favorite singers is lost in me xD

Okay, I get liking Shepard. I liked my Shepard. But why do you even want him/her back so desperately? What can Shepard actually even bring that New Guy can't? I mean, they've gone so far as to move us to a new galaxy to divorce the thing from the old setting, rendering playing as Shepard completely meaningless.

I have zero clue.  I'm guessing they want a hero that lives on forever,  Like one of the Mario brothers.

Tweeted... I think from Weekes, but I'm not certain. Anyway, you can find links in the appropriate threads.
