I was planning on trying a solo adventure for the first time, but I was wondering...

Is it possible to have every recruited character being loyal if you never take any of them with you by just talking to them back at the camp and giving them gifts?

I mean, I will try to recruit everybody, I simply will never bring them with me unless it is really necessary in order to fulfill a sidequest.

Is it possible to achieve this in a legitimate way or will I have to trick the game with console commands?

Also, has anyone ever tried (and recorded) the game being played with all possible characters getting killed and only recruiting the essentials?

I was planning to try this at some point, have Loghain and Allistar dead at the end (one executed, the other performing the sacrifice), and only recruiting Leliana at the beginning in order to murder her later when destroying the ashes. I know that inquisition will retcon her death (in a sense, while still admitting that she was attacked and presumably killed by the warden) and of course, I will stab Morrigan when she goes through the mirror at the final dlc.

I am accepting suggestions on how to built a character capable of surviving solo. Since the odds are pretty much against him or her, I will play at an easier setting. If push comes to shove I can always cheat with console commands, but I was hoping to try to survive first in a legitimate way and only cheat if I fail. (I must confess that Im not very good when it comes to dragon age).

I do realize that when playing solo battles can be much longer than usual and get boring. And I do know that the companion´s presence enrich and color the missions, but I was looking for a very alternative and unusual approach this time.

Also, I would like to hear if possible some input regarding character construction for a solo murderer.

I was considering a mage, but he would probably be sympathetic either to wynne or to morrigan at the end of the day and this is problematical. He would hate the circle, but would also dislike morrigan by believing she has her own personal agenda and that agenda could result in his death.

I guess an elf could easily be explained as hating everything and everyone. If she just lost her soon to be husband. And saw her friends being taken hostage and used.

Maybe a dwarf who just lost everything and would not mind if everyone else will now lose too?

Or a human noble who ends up mad after losing his or her family to betrayal and decides to rely on no one but him or herself?

Any suggestions?

Approval: No. You'd need the Gifts DLC at least. Or console.

Play a Dwarf Noble. They're perfect assholes. Or clowns. Same thing. And at the same time, they're actually the only origin with command/military experience against the darkspawn. At least you could still roleplay that others would still follow a person no matter how idiotic. Less so with a City Elf.. who carry the stigma of the "uncommon hero" to begin with. It's a far more positive origin if you ask me, but some people still play them badly or kill their own fathers.

It's certainly possible to have characters be loyal. The possible betrayals are Wynne in the circle tower, Wynne/Leliana at the sacred ashes, Shale at the anvil, and Zevran when Taliesen shows up. Wynne and Shale are purely dictated by choices you take. Leliana you can persuade if you've completed her quest and hardened her. Zevran is purely approval based (gifts alone are enough).

Of course, that conflicts with killing everyone. Which is also possible, if you ignore retcons.

Dog - kill at Ostagar (except HN obviously)

Alistair - execute at landsmeet or have him kill AD

Morrigan - kill in witch hunt

Leliana - kill at urn

Sten - leave in cage

Wynne - kill during circle tower or at urn

Zevran - kill after ambush, or have him side with Taliesen

Oghren - get him to -100 approval and he'll fight you (probably need feastday pranks, and retconned in DA:A)

Loghain - execute or die to AD

Shale - kill at honnleath

Origin - if nothing else you can roleplay it as always being a psychopath, but while you've been around people you've had to put on the normal demeanour. Which all changes after your origin and ostagar...

All 3 classes can solo nightmare, though mages have the easiest time (I'd say AW mage > DW war > non-AW mage > DW rogue > archer war/rogue > 2H war > SnS war). Solos are also the hardest at the start, and get easier the more you progress. I can give you some tips depending on which class you want to play.

Actually, I need to clarify.

These are two separate build.

One is a nice person, who just likes to play solo.

The other is a total jerk who will try to built an enormous body count and will only recruit people in order to kill them later. He or she will recruit morrigan in order to receive the side-mission in which you can kill her mother. But will refuse to do the ritual in order to ****** morrigan off and later will stab her.
