I haven't touched DAI in many months, but just bought the GOTY edition for PC (previously had it on PS4).  I had 200+ hours into a mage and a rogue (and no, never finished the main story, which is my goal now), but the idea of a Reaver in SP has intrigued me since playing it a little bit in MP.

Does the experience feel similar?  I'm going to be playing on Nightmare with some Trials enabled (although trials are new since I've played last).  I'd also like to stick to 2H for aesthetics.  Advice on selecting race is welcome; I'm leaning towards Dwarf, but I'm not sure how 2H will look on those short guys.

I have looked over some old posts, but I'm hoping to get some updated help (or simply confirmation that the old builds still work with the DLC, any updates and the new Trials thing).

Any advice is welcome thank you!

Mp reaver is awesome compared to sp.

Sp reaver is basically Mp reaver without perma rampage. It's like reaver with rare rampage + katari = sp reaver. So you need heal on hit on your weapon and walking fortress on your armour masterwork crafted. And instead of rampage take some damage mitigation/boost like livid. Ring of pain is still optional and not recommended for stamina unless you use death siphon amulet (late game) and or sigil of the great bear (doubles stamina) but I personally recommend sigil of deepstalker on reaver, while it's - 50% to attack it doubles (+200%) flanking damage so as long someone else in the party plays the Lego and tanks (Cassandra and blackwall can do this) you can carve up enemies from behind at a ridiculous rate . it is also recommended on nightmare to have a real other tank warrior in the party anywats so they can take horn of valour with fortified blast and you can focus on offense. And in sp if you have trespasser the alternative upgrade to combat roll is game breaking I've heard as it does like more or equal damage to dragon rage when at full health.

1. Dragon rage
2. Combat roll
3. Livid
4. War horn
5. Devour
6. Charging bull
7. Might blow (or pommel strike with friendly fire on) or grappling chain (despair demon killer)
8. A. Horn of valour (if soloing) b. aegis of the rift (jaws of hakkon) c. War cry with armour upgrade d. Ring of pain

Yeah the first 6 skills there are pretty much standard the last two are up to you with the things I listed being particularly useful.

Oh and race selection: dwarf and elf is best. Elf arguably more as there are more archers than mages in game and the extra ranged defense does not hurt.

And armor is up to you just use the best heavy or medium armour schematic you have and boost stuff like critical chance for flow of battle (arguably not as useful on reaver though as other classes as dragon Rage has no cooldown) , heavy armour strength constitution and stagger on hit. Personally I think heavy armour is better on reaver.

Lol SP reaver is more OP than MP reaver if you can get a barrier amulet and urgency belt. Just dragon rage yourself to red health then charge-devour. Won't die because you generate barrier just like a KE. remember to slap on a lyrium sigil too.

Combat roll solves all the knock downs.

It's a bit like playing The Destroyer build (favoured MP reaver build by promotion lords) without a PI amulet except you won't die with KE mode activated.
