We've all seen those mighty PromotionLords, able to rush up zone 4 FC as a level 1 Archer on Heartbreaker. Their dedication to grinding out promotions has left them as demigods. But what about their opposite in number? The brave souls who have stayed at 10/10/10 forever to prove that you don't need promotions to do Threatening (as some people have claimed)? Who, in fact, can take on Nightmare in a coordinated group of skilled players?

You too can become a NoPromotionLord today! It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Make sure you have a spare email address you can attach an Origin account to
2. Create a new Origin account (preferably with "NP" somewhere in the name) using that email
2.5. "Buy" and download the free DA:I trial
2.8. Kick ass and take names
2.9. Never promote a single character
3. DONE!

Why should you become a NoPromotionLord? Plenty of reasons!

A. It's free! No sign-up cost, no monthly fees, no hidden fees, etc.
B. You can enjoy playing kits at level 20 at their full power without feeling guilty about "wasting" XP
C. You can freely tell people who say "Well, eventually you'll have 100% crit chance so plan around that" to stuff it
D. You can experience a fresh start in DA:I without "compromising" or "interfering" with your main account and without having to worry about keeping up with the Joneses promotion wise on that account
E. You can actually get a group of people wanting to cooperate in Nightmare rather than YOLOing it

What are the rules if you want to be a NoPromotionLord? Well, so far there's been one vote to approve the following stipulations (and it was unanimous, 1 to 0)...

1. Never promote a character

Take a moment to absorb that if you need to, it's a lot to take in all at once. It's also considered *preferable* to not be farming NM dragons with people who AREN'T NoPromotionLords, but since you technically can get Hakkons or other level 26+ weapons from chests (especially for people who earn the December Victory chest, could get up to 3 Hakkons there) it's not a rule or even a guideline per se.

Just imagine you need to grind out another 500 NM dragons in hunt of Hakkon weapons, and then grind another 100 million gold for the Crescent... all over again.

Nope from me...

This is obviously an attempt to bring damp to those fresh "good old days" of November 2014. While you are at it for posterity please patch the game to reintroduce key glitch actually even better have a random chance of a nug being spawned with the key and if it gets away no xp for you as you can enjoy the level scenery but who cares it's not like you will finish that perilous match anyways most likely and you really don't need xp pretty fast. And sidony always needs love so just patch her up prior to when power of the dead was "fixed" so that it infinitely stacks.

If you're on the Xbox One, I wouldn't risk it. I have no reason to lie to you.

I have a secondary X1 account for my wife that is shared under a family Xbox Live subscription.  It isn't difficult to set up and I played some weekend events on the account a while back to remember what it was like with no manifest or promotions.  If they deleted their account, then it was definitely user error.

Boogie has about 35 accounts.  He could probably give us a tutorial

I'd like to convert that to Monopoly money, please, what's the going rate?

I would totally start a scrub account, if I knew how.

Non-PC, Santa didn't bring a new computer.

Step 1, get a PC!

In all seriousness, though, even a relatively crappy computer can run it on minimum settings and still looks more than fine (I had to run it on a dual-core for a bit and it's supposed to require quad core).

I'm intrigued and forgot the feeling of being one shotted by a wraith on routine.

Pretty much. Well, you won't actually get one-shotted by a Wraith on Routine, but Routine will actually feel dangerous for a bit and getting even the upgraded blue crafted armor will make a massive difference. My own promotions are hardly exception (mid 60s across the board) but between those, all Hakkons, and all purple rings/necks/belts (and all ability rings) even Perilous is pretty trivial on most characters (and Threatening is faceroll on all level 1s). Definitely not the case on a fresh account.

Just imagine you need to grind out another 500 NM dragons in hunt of Hakkon weapons, and then grind another 100 million gold for the Crescent... all over again.

Nope from me...

Ah, but that's the thing, you don't *have* to do anything. Play as much as you find interesting (and yes, I would like to find three others to kill at least some NM dragons with everyone at 10/10/10, but I'd never go for the Crescent or worry about getting all Hakkons).

This is obviously an attempt to bring damp to those fresh "good old days" of November 2014.

Not quite, I didn't start playing until after Dragonslayer was launched. However, for people who DID start back when things were a complete mess, it's a lot more fun/manageable to start anew now since you don't have to deal with those issues. And yes, I have seen a lot of threads where people want to reset achievements or undo promotions or whatever...well, here's their chance.

I also loathe the people claiming you need 60+ in every stat to do NM or like 30+ in every stat to do Perilous.

I know somebody on the X1 that tried to do just that and it replaced their original account, so no, hell no, lol.

Don't see how that's possible given you're using a brand new email address and a brand new account name.

I did that many moons ago,but playing on alt account only slows me down.

It's meant as a change of pace and a bit of fun. I know people who are sitting at 100+ stats across the board who like the gameplay of DA:I but feel bored at the moment and want something that feels fresh...well, this would be an option for them.

I played some weekend events on the account a while back to remember what it was like with no manifest or promotions.

I also like to use the account for when I'm introducing people to the game so I'm less of a "god" on Routine and Threatening. Even if I downgrade my armor, weapons, and even accessories on my main account I still take 25%+ less damage from all sources, have 125+ more HP, 25%+ more attack, and 25%+ more crit chance than they do. Less fun for them if they feel like they're being super carried or not contributing.

I personally would love to do this if I didn't have to grind the atrocious RNG for decent gear again.  I'm not even talking about Hakkon gear, seeing as it isn't as necessary at lower promotions/difficulties due to not having the crit chance to make decent use of that ridiculous damage bonus.  Just decent blue/purple gear.

I don't think starting over is going to inject the sense of freshness your friends with 100+ stats are looking for.  All that does is start you over at low stats with horrible gear, playing  game difficulties that are less interesting because they have less 'elite' type enemies and mostly just sends the generic and less interesting cannon fodder enemies at them.  Basically, more of the same, but more boring.  They should be playing Heartbreaker.  These friends of yours are exactly the kind of people that difficulty was added for.

Promoting is helluva drug.I am playing since day 1 and will probably play until ME:A.

Heartbreaker is  the most interesting difficulty(4-5  Venus Commanders are hot),but too bad I rarely can find some pugs,so either soloing it or play NM,which is too easy for me at this point.

Yeah HB is awesome! I hate demons zone 1-4, but I freaking love demon zone 5! It felt so good butchering all those rage and pride demons and veni bosses. Just abuse that demon commander first and you are good to rock. Screw those ice *******!

I think if you're looking at it from the perspective of "have to" then you're not the type who would be interested in this. Part of the fun is having the bad gear and being short on mats and having to live on the edge a bit. Same reason Diablo 3 has "seasons" where you start from scratch, why MMOs like World of Warcraft generally reset gear and offer a new leveling experience every expansion (and why "alts" are popular in MMOs), etc.

I'm also not sure when you started playing but you might find the RNG to be less atrocious these days than whatever it was like initially. But that's hugely a personal preference thing -- some people complain about gear advancement being too fast in DA:I and others complain about it being too slow.

All that does is start you over at low stats with horrible gear, playing game difficulties that are less interesting because they have less 'elite' type enemies and mostly just sends the generic and less interesting cannon fodder enemies at them.

The "horrible gear" can sometimes wildly change how you approach the game, though -- without it being the Nightmare scenario of getting 2-3 shot as an Archer. You don't get shredded as much...but one of the reasons the enemies have to do that much damage is the sheer amount of HoK you can have at that point. And by reducing the HoK in play you get the feeling of "death of a thousand cuts" rather than "random archers can do half my health in an auto attack."

Also puts more emphasis on teamwork and smart play rather than relying on the best gear/armor/lots of HoK/high promotions.

This also kind of sounds like the "Gold vs Platinum" debate of ME3 multiplayer -- I find "10 Venatori Gladiators and 10 Venatori Spellbinders" to be *less* interesting than a more mixed group. Ditto things like 5 Despair Demons at once -- among other things seems to "cheapen" the "elite" status on top of being massively annoying. In ME3 most people preferred Gold over Platinum because Platinum wound up throwing a lot more high HP "boss" type enemies at the players -- limited the available playstyles, made some kits significantly worse, and put a much greater emphasis on raw DPS.

Heartbreaker is  the most interesting difficulty(4-5  Venus Commanders are hot),but too bad I rarely can find some pugs,so either soloing it or play NM,which is too easy for me at this point.

I still need to actually do HB (on my main account), give me a shout if you're trying to make a group sometime.
