I would. And it would give me such adorable feels if he does.
Especially when travelling and Dorian tries smoothing things. "I....just wanted to find common ground, that's all." And then Solas is aloof
;___;
I didn't get that at all. I agree it seemed more like Tevinter guilt.
I also consider myself a relatively sane person, and I have mixed feelings about the egg -- which includes love. ![]()
Does he comment at all when the PC hooks up with Solas?
(I ask because I find it hilarious that he comments approvingly if they get together with Blackwall. Apparently all those insults were covering a certain appreciation for his burliness.)

My canon Inquisitor did but not a peep from Dorian. I would be interested if he does and I just missed it. I kind of wished there were more comments on the romance. Maybe I just missed them.
In all honesty, superficially Solas is not his type. I always feel it is a testament to my Lavellan's character that Dorian falls for him since his physique is so far from what Dorian normally seems attracted to. Lavellan also takes an interest in Dorian as a person, not just as a mage, and is supportive in his personal crisis and in defending him from Mother Giselle. Whilst he has issues with him over slavery, he is not constantly banging on about it like Solas is.
Dorian has a shared interest in magic with Solas and I think is genuinely fascinated to find out about the differences in style. Many of their conversations about magic seem very technical to me and even have my mage Inquisitor standing there and feeling stupid, yet they seem on the same wavelength. That is where I feel Dorian is trying to establish some common ground with Solas, because he feels he can learn from him since Solas is an acknowledged expert on the Fade. Beyond that though I think you can safely say that Dorian is not attracted to Solas.
So far as I am aware, he never comments if you hook up with Solas; he certainly didn't to my female Lavellan and she was his best friend. By contrast he took a great deal of interest in the progress of the romance between my mage Lavellan and Cassandra.
If I quint a bit I can see where the Cullen/Dorian shippers are coming from but Dorian and Solas just seems like mage nerds being mage nerds with a dose of Tevinter guilt.

No, I don't remember him remarking about Solas at all. That's kinda strange, actually, because he has nice things to say about everyone else.
I don't think Dorian actually dislikes Blackwall. The man likes Ferelden beer and is capable of having a relationship with Bull, so Blackwall's coarseness doesn't put him off. He says a lot of insulting things, but he's like that with everyone. It's part of his swagger, I think. Blackwall has serious reservations about Dorian at first because he thinks that Dorian is looking down on him, but once he figures out that he isn't, they get along quite well.
But yeah, Dorian has a thing for large men.
Dorian and Solas geek out over magic because they're both interested in how stuff works, but they don't have much in common. There's the Tevinter guilt on Dorian's side, but there's also a complete lack of interest on Solas's. Solas opposes the Venatori, but only because they're servants of Corypheus. He doesn't have a problem with them being from Tevinter, specifically. Dorian's concern is that they're tarnishing Tevinter's reputation more than it already is. Solas isn't big or muscular, so he isn't Dorian's type from a physical point of view.
But hey, that's just my opinion. If the OP ships it, and if it makes sense to her, who am I to disagree?
Because he never shows even the slightest inkling of attraction to Solas? That's Dorian's Tevinter guilt shining through, not a crush.
I see a lot of Whi-Tevinter Guilt coming up in the future of the series.
It seems that Dorian's view toward Solas can be captured with a single banter...
Dorian: Solas, have I offended you?
Solas: If you have, why would it concern you?
Dorian: Because we're here working together for a common cause, and because I respect your abilities.
Solas: My abilities as a mage.
Dorian: Well, I... realize there's more to you than that.
Solas: The differences between us are not technicalities to be discarded, Dorian.
Dorian: I... was hoping we might find common ground, that's all.
His tone in this banter says it all, and captures it in a way that reading it really can't. It's pretty unfortunate that Solas rebuffs him. This is actually one of my favorite Dorian banters because you can see that he is trying. He knows how people look at him as a Tevinter mage and yet wants to make friends despite that.
Dorian is actually a pretty friendly guy if he is greeted in that way. But if someone's first reaction to him is negative, then his hackles will raise and he will throw out his biting sarcasm. With Solas specifically, there are a few elements. There is what was mentioned in that banter, of attempting comradeship with someone he is fighting alongside as a member of the Inquisition. There is also the fact that they are both mages, and Dorian sees and recognizes Solas's skill and also that he has an unique experience from his own as a mage. And yes, there is also the Tevinter guilt, but I don't think that plays as big a part.
But hey, that's just my opinion. If the OP ships it, and if it makes sense to her, who am I to disagree?
Well, I think there are two kinds of shipping, and it depends on how the shipper looks at it. If someone sees a couple of characters that they think are hot or whatever and wants to ship them for whatever reason, and admits that that is the case, then that is one thing. But I do tend to think it's a little absurd when people ship characters that really and truly despise each other, like Fenris/Anders, and act like it's some legitimate thing because they think they see some sort of unresolved sexual tension between the two, when it is really just pure, honest hatred.
I mean, slash pairings are fine if you think they're hot, but at least admit that is what it is.
(This doesn't necessarily apply to the OP, who asked a question, but certain shippers in general.)

I never once saw anything that might've implied Dorian having a romantic interest in Solas.
I actually think Dorian looks up to Solas a little, or at least respects him enough to wish for his approval. Some of the later banters take on a very slight mentoring quality.
I think interpreting that as romantic interest is reading far too much into it, though.
Nothing wrong with shipping for the sake of shipping, though.
BSN has taught me otherwise ![]()
