I'm more shocked as to why you returned after so long, you were free from this place.

I did the same thing myself. Still trying to figure it out.

I read the title as "I came back after 4 years of inactivity to block you."

I thought to myself, "that probably happens a lot," but then I read the title correctly. I wasn't all that shocked. Certainly not as shocked as I was when I thought you had come back after 4 years just to block me.

That's mostly just speculation. It was an interesting read, but it certainly doesn't prove anything to be "right."

You came back - for a place like this. Why? A man like you. Why? [dies]

Penrose's idea of CCC is brilliant, and honestly probably correct, just like his objective reduction with quantum gravity. It is logical and follows naturally from the physics, and its so obvious that no one had thought of it before. But then he takes a good idea, and takes them to the extreme by saying things like "what if aliens from before the big bang put hidden messages in the cosmic microwave background because reasons?"

He's like the George Lucas of science. He comes up with good ideas and then ruins them.

Or he's like whoever's idea it was to mix aliens and Indiana Jones. It just leaves everyone wondering wtf he is smoking.

Honestly, I think he is just a science fiction fan and he can write stuff like this now, at the end of his career, because he knows it wont ruin his career and he gives zero fucks. It's a good idea to think outside of the box, and who knows - maybe he is right, its certainly pretty damn clever. But it is waaaay out there and definitely crossing into pseudoscience domain.

Er, welcome back? Hopefully your holidays have been going well for you, and I hope you enjoy being on the BSN again. I come and go sometimes myself.

No clue who you are, but from one gamer to another, I hope you have a safe and happy New Year. If you drink, do it at home. Cheaper and less dangerous. :)

Great post. xD
He really is quite a brilliant person, and he definitely posits some really intriguing, plausible stuff. But yeah... Sometimes he goes a little off the deep end, which is actually sort of amusing.

Mass Effect was right all along.

Look at what some scientists wrote recently in a piece of scientific work:

Reminds you of anything?

P.S. Is Chris Priestly still moderating these forums?

I always though ME was connected to the Fermi paradox and that it was a conscious choice made by the writers.

Wait, Priestly still gets work? Hahahahahahahahaha. That tubby ****** brought a whole new level to incompetence. (This also very much applies to Stanley 'end of line' Woo)

His idea of moderator was laughable. He shut down threads and threw out ban hammers like he got cake every time he done it! And god forbid anybody who dared question the mighty Priestlys lazy, half-arsed and self-righteous 'professionalism' . . .

The contrast between him and Hawking is amusing to me. Hawking is very careful what he says, and everything he says he bases on solid science. If he says or does something in semi-jest, like throwing a time-travelers party that no one shows up to - he does it to make a point.

Both men are brilliant, both have contributed immeasurably to modern physics, but one is careful and one skirts the line of pseudoscience. As such, I have greater respect for Hawking as a scientist. But if Penrose turns out to be correct about any of his crazy ideas, in retrospect he will probably be viewed as having greater insight into nature than any physicist that has ever lived.

But extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. And he doesn't even have ordinary evidence.

I'm actually quite sincere. I wouldn't post here from time to time if I didn't enjoy it, and I hope others do too. Life's too short to hang out somewhere that only causes stress. If I wanted that, I'd go back to battle.net. ;)

So I wish them well, and I hope they have a bit of fun. Oh and Happy New Year everyone! Please be safe, and enjoy your night. :)

Because its dumb. And it also doesn't involve the lighting of anything on fire - so I'm surprised you like it. But I like your screen name, it's brilliant.

It's perfect that no one liked this, and I hope no one else comes along and ruins the effect.

(Just watch a poster called "no one else" come along and ruin the effect make the effect even better.)
