I remember back before the forum switch seeing a video of a soldier, (shocktrooper ?) fighting melee against a Thresher Maw.  I seem to remember him surviving 20+ melee hits.  I haven't been able to find the video again though.

If I have some time I may try this out.

Update. Here are my lvl 50 and lvl 60 squad builds for my previously posted Shepard build.

Kaidan Alenko

Throw - 8/12 (1 freebie)

Lift - 12

Barrier - 12

Stasis - 1

Decryption - 12 (1 freebie)

Electronics - 9

First Aid - 5/6

Medicine - 7/12

Sentinel - 6

Note: Kaidan is a great support-focused squad member for Soldier because he compliments Soldier with both Tech and Biotics. The goal is to keep him out of danger by sending into covered positions. With Kaidan the squad will benefit from any other squadmate depending on enemies you face.

Ashley Williams

Pistols - 8

Shotguns - 12

Assault Rifles - 12

Sniper Rifles - 3/8

Combat Armor - 7/12 (1 freebie)

First Aid - 0

Assault Training - 12 (1 freebie)

Fitness - 12

Soldier - 6

Note: Although Ashley is a Soldier it doesn't mean she can't complement Shepard. This build focuses mainly on her short range weapons and durability so you can play a bit safer. The downside to this combo is that it doesn't leave much room for squad options because you'll need a tech specialist for unlocking stuff and some biotics as well. Kaidan is the perfect choice for this.

Garrus Vakarian

Assault Rifles - 8

Sniper Rifles - 12

Tactical Armor - 7

Assault Training - 8/12

Decryption - 9 (1 freebie)

Damping - 6/12

First Aid - 7 (1 freebie)

Electronics - 9

Turian Agent - 6

Note: Compared to Commando Soldier, Garrus is a bit fragile so it's best to master his sniping skills. I also focused on his tech talents and Assault Training so I could use them more often. For squad options Team Dextro with Tali will be excellent against synthetics. Wrex or Liara are the best against organics.

Urdnot Wrex

Assault Rifles - 8

Shotguns - 12

Combat Armor - 7/12

Fitness - 12

Warp - 12 (1 freebie)

Throw - 8

Barrier - 7/12 (1 freebie)

Stasis - 0

Krogan Battlemaster - 6

Note: Well, basic build. Maxed tanking abilities. Makes most sense to take Kaidan along for tech and additional crowd control.

Tali'Zorah nar Rayya

Pistols - 8

Shotguns - 12

Basic Armor - 5/8

First Aid - 5/6

Electronics - 9 (1 freebie)

Damping - 6/12

Decryption - 9 (1 freebie)

Hacking - 12

Quarian Machinist - 6

Note:  Tali's tech skills make her the obvious choise against the Geth. With shotguns she can compliment you at short range . With Liara they provide with everything Soldier lacks.

Liara T'Soni

Throw - 8/12

Lift - 12

Warp - 12

Singularity - 12

Barrier - 12

Stasis - 6/12

First Aid - 4

Electronics - 0

Asari Scientist - 6

Note: Due to a bug, If Liara learns all of the available biotic abilities, Overload becomes hidden in the HUD so I opted out of Electronics. For everyone who doesn't like Stasis put those points in Electronics instead. Liara is a perfect biotic specialist due to her having all the biotic talents you need. As I stated above, Tali and Liara are the best for Soldier.
