Fenris, hands down. His entire arc is about coming to terms with trauma, a tale of recovery. I love that it's not that he it 'fixed' somehow by Hawke's love, but that he actually has to work through his issues - him getting his memories back for a second after they've been together could easily have turned toxic by having him try to recover them with him repeatedly having sex with Hawke, and instead he pulls away, to work through this rather than try and apply the quick fix. He wants to get himself in a better place emotionally before committing to a relationship. Plus, did you SEE that final kiss? DAMN.
Sadly, he's really been the only male same-sex romance I've actually had any real semblance of satisfaction from. Zevran and Dorian both put up a front that actively pushes me away - defense mechanism or not, their attitudes in the early part of the relationship, where both of them are pretty much act like they're the Maker's gift to anyone they're flirting with honestly just makes me want to punch them both in the face. Whatever else that exists under those facades - and I KNOW they're facades, a projected image because of their own pain, I know all this - the preliminary image they present is so much a turn off, I have less than no desire to dig deeper. Meanwhile, Anders screams emotionally manipulative/abusive to me, actually using the 'if you love me, you'll do this' argument with Hawke at one point, and BDSM is SO. VERY. MUCH. not my thing, which turns me off of Bull as a romance.
Dragon Age is one of the few games out there where I get to play a gay character, but I've been unsatisfied in two out of the three games. ...And, obviously, I kinda needed an outlet to rant some.
