For anyone interested I created a MP specific Discord server. Discord is like teamspeak and irc rolled into one. It works in a browser and also has dedicated programs and apps for various platforms.

There's text chatting for those that do not have one.
I've tried Discord before with Mgamerz and two other guys. Works quite well.
Tested with TornACL the other day. Voice chat was better than in-game version for me.
^ But I haven't yet acquired a PC mic.
It has text chat as well for random jibberish that needs to be mentioned.
I barely text as is. Will just wait until I finally decide to get a mic. Feels like I'm always missing a party without a mic.

Somehow, this server has managed to grow. What started as more or less an experiment between a couple of people has blossomed into a fairly active chat hangout. So I thought I'd bump this again for anyone that may be interested.

But I have a PS3 USB Mic. So will Discord USB mic work on my PC, even if I don't have me3 installed on PC? Umh. but that means I can't see anything. And the mouse also won't help. Right? Wait Wut?
I'm pretty sure it will work. You can also use it on your phone like I do. I've only joined so far and not used it yet (this chat, so far I'm lurking...), so I'm not so familiar with it but I used it a bit back then when Yummy made that server and it worked well with my phone xD

Heh. Wasn't aware there was a PS3-centric Discord server. This one is open to anyone regardless of platform. And it's not strictly MP only. People are free to discuss most anything they want...though I'd prefer Quarian sweat taste testing be done in private.

Discord is independent of the game entirely. It's also cross platform, so you could run it on your phone or PC or tablet while playing on any other platform. It's also highly configurable, unlike many of the alternatives (I'm looking at you, TeamSpeak!) and it has no problem with you picking one of several connected mics, for example.

and I have been using it quite a lot in the Dark Zone, to avoid being overheard by all the Rogues lurking in DZ5/6. It works well.
Another tip, if you're on PC, is to set your sound devices to disallow apps from taking exclusive control. Then set your game chat to push-to-talk, so you can talk to your friend group on Discord, but can also make the pugs hear you when you want to curse them out for not doing objectives.
