I bought a physical copy of the game, and got a "Disc 2", presumably with collector's edition content. However, I can't install anything from that disc. There's an autorun that gives the same menu as the regular game disc, but when I hit the play button I get an error. "Failed to authenticate the disc. Please insert the correct disc and try again."

Am I doing something wrong, or do I have a broken disc or something?

Are you sure you're putting in disc 2?

It's essentially a standard movie DVD (with .vob and IFO files) but it also contains some wallpapers and the music mp3 files.

Go into windows explorer and open the disc. You should see all the folders there. You can copy the folder containing the .vob files to your hard drive and then play them using either windows media center or media player. The rest of the files should also eb available to you.

Ah so we have to copy all the .vob and IFO files manually? I was annoyed that it would not run right from the disk so I pulled it out and never looked at it again. Having too much fun playing right now anyway.

maybe you can first run windows media player and then play the "disc 2" from it.

I am pretty sure it is disc 2; printed on it's surface is "Dragon Age: Origins; Game Disc 2".

Also, there are no .vob files or anything else that runs in media player or any other player. There is autorun.exe and autorun.inf in the root, as well as a Data folder, DirectX folder and Software folder.

The Data folder contains .zip files that appear to have something to do with language packs, like campaign_tt_polish.rar.

The DirectX folder contains pretty much what you'd expect; DirectX.

The Software folder contains Microsoft .net framework, Nvidia PhysX and VisualCRT.

All in all it appears to be the same as disc1, but incomplete.

Localisation files... they're needed if you install your game in a language other than English.

What version did you buy? And where?

I bought it off a Dutch webshop; a preordered normal version. The manual is in Dutch, the game is English. It came with The Stone Prisoner premium content, nothing else as far as I can tell so far.

By the way, those localisation files are also on the working game disc 1. Same folder, same files. So it's not a language pack CD or anything.

I am now assuming that this is a misprinted disc or something. Apparently I am the only one who has this issue, or at least, I haven't found anyone else mentioning it.

You said you bought normal version.
Normal version doesn't have the bonus stuff only deluxe, what you most likely have as stated by Ragadurn.

The disc should state bonus disc not disc 2,since it doesn't you don't have it.

In that case, I am simply wondering what Game Disc 2 is supposed to be. Maybe it need it later in the game, but the error message just seems strange then.

I received the colectors edition about 2 weeks ago. the video component works fine I can see all of the trailers etc, but I get place the disc in a PC to access wall papers and sound track. I am viewing it from my PC any suggestions. Not a computer genius here, just an adequate user. If given directions I can usually follow and figure it out.

I got the collector's bonus disc, and now that i try to play it, i get an error about not having a decoder to run it. I'm using windows media player which a quick google shows should play .vob files (which are on the disc and associated with .vobs). What's the deal?
