Hope that when they show us footage of "Hey look at this feature we're showing that is totally in the game" actually ends up in the game unlike half the customization stuff we were told in DAI and the mission consequences whether to burn/flood a town or leave soldiers to die etc.

I like that game a lot but boy did that stuff being cut after being paraded about ****** me off. Still peeved.

My rule for all Bioware games at this point:

1. Buy used or out of the bargain bin.

ME3. Some people can't get over it.

Some things should never be forgotten lest they be repeated

Rule #1: Do not preorder
Rule #2: Do not preorder

Everything else like spoiler free gaming and being a completionist comes naturally to me anyway.

Same.  If I know for sure that I'm buying it then there's no need to look up reviews.  Just pick it and go, form my own opinions, then poke my head up over the parapet and see what everyone else thought after I've played the whole thing.

For my part there's a rather specific reason why I'm not pre-ordering and why I'll be checking the forum/reviews of ME:A before I purchase Andromeda.

I literally will not spend a dime on the next iteration of the ME series if they continue to use the same trollstore as ME3MP. Most people in this forum seem SP inclined, and won't get it. But for myself(and from my personal experience) it's a dealbreaker.

Unfortunately I know spoilers are going to be a part of the cost of that.

I tend to follow certain rules I've made for myself regarding Mass Effect games:

1. Veteran and below are for ******.

2. Always pick soldier on first play-through as the other classes require a depth of understanding that you do not yet posses. Learn the mechanics first before rushing headlong into the deep end.

3. Stick with the ME2 class/weapon conventions  - they work the best.

4. Biotics (classes) always look cooler and feel more natural with women.

5. For everything else there's men.

6. Krogans make the best squadmembers. The fun you can have with a krogan tank is unreal.

7. Adepts & Engineers don't need weapons so head straight to gold with them. You can play around with guns later when you have something worth a damn.

8. As soon as you've maxed out your gold/rare weapons and you have at least 5 medi-gel slots - it's time for plat from here on out.

9. Don't miss weekend challenges. And if you have multiple systems do them on both. Trust me this will save you hours of grinding if you game on more than one system.

10. More often than not If it's not 66653 or 66660 you are doing it wrong.

Wow. A lot of ppl really hate ME3. I wasn't on the forums back then but damn, sounds like it scarred a few folks.

Welp, seems like there's lots of space over here in the minority, I'm gonna stretch out and get comfy. Pfftttt not many ppl to chat to tho...... :/

You should have seen this place the first few months after ME3.  This is quite calm in comparison.  A point was reached where the entire forum had to be locked down for  a couple of hours.  Not a thread or a topic.  THE WHOLE FORUM.

Yeah, ME3 p*ssed off a lot of people.  Even if it gets passed off as a few idiots who just didnt' "get it"

I think it's more that people hated ME3s ending, and then for some, that bled back towards the game as a whole.

Holy **** that's heavy.

I can understand why ppl have problems with it of course, just not the venomous hate.

That's sad as there's some really good stuff there, the whole first act is awesome.  To me anyways....

My only rule for new bioware games.. I don't go to this forum before i finished the first playthrough.

When ppl are disapointed with some aspects of the new game they have a tendency to boil their ****** over it. This can negatively impact your experience.

There is only one rule to follow in this and other mundane issues:

Never project your desires and expectations on something you don't have full control on. Maintain an optimistic but realistic mindset knowing and accepting that not every flower is born with the same beauty and that beauty might have a different meaning for you if compared to the person next to you.

If you do that and the game happens to be good (for you), you will be pleasantly surprised and enjoy it much more.

If you do that and the game happens to be bad (for you) then your mind is already prepared and you will be able to enjoy what good that game still has to offer without drowning into bitterness and resentment.

Huh?

Yeah it's not perfect the RNG is a bit slow etc but 800-1000 hours you can probably unlock everything. Sure I think it should be 400-500 hour range but it's not that bad. What is your issue with it?

I hate those stereotypes/tropes. I like playing male Mage types. Not a issue in games like dragon age or mass effect where you make your own character but far too many games with fixed protagonists lock those roles or effectively do to females.

Old Woman: Hey there, your Highness! And aren't you a pretty little girl!
Rincewind: I'm not a little girl, I'm a powerful and dignified magician.
Old Woman: Why are you dressed up as a princess, then?
Rincewind: I most certainly am not!
Old Woman: You've got a tall, pointy hat. All princesses have tall, pointy hats.
Rincewind: Look, it's not...
Old Woman: And a dress! A tall, pointy hat and a dress, that's a princess in my book!
Rincewind: So how do you explain the beard then, eh? Eh?
Old Woman: I thought that was just probably your peasant blood, dear. A lot of men find a bit of hair sultry and attractive.
Rincewind: I wish a lot of women did.

Yup.  One of the reasons I like Aveline so much, a strong hardy warrior who still manages to show her feminine side when she likes Donnic.  We need more women like that, and more men who don't have tree-trunk arms and anger issues.

So, basically, don't do exactly the thing ME1 did?

While I agree I also hope more games would not tie physical size and fitness to magic negatively. What's wrong with a muscular Mage. I get it in stat systems where you have a limit of attributes. If I have 25 points to spend strength might get dumped. The wizard I'm running in a 5e d&d game has a 18 strength and 18 int and took the tavern brawler feat. Now my dex, con, wisdom and charisma suffered for it but it's a fun character. In games like mass effect without stats or where muscles are purely aesthetic as its a shooter scrawny of meat head Mage should be up to the player.(assuming any body options are available)

True.  Don't forget Dorian though, that guy is *ahem* very nicely put together.

Usually, I do agree that avoiding spoilers at all costs is ideal. However, I am going to break that rule for Andromeda. I am so skeptical of Andromeda that Bioware has to prove to me that they aren't being stupid with the lore, and part of that is deliberately spoiling certain aspects (like how and why they get to Andromeda in the first place).

If there is a script leak, I'd probably come to the forum to at ask those who read the leak if Cerberus is in it.

Cerberus having a major role would move the game to a used bargain bin purchase for me.

Cerberus having any role at all would seriously majorly irritate me to the point of relegating the game to the used bargain bin.

Cerberus, Reapers, a lore-breaking voyage to Andromeda, and forgetting prior lore in favor of rule-of-cool would all do it for me.
