So King Alistair/Queen Anora only show up if you side with the Mages?

I just finished my first playthrough of DAI, completing Trespasser last night.  This was my Pro-Templar world where Anora is Queen, Loghain is Warden and Alistair is a wandering drunk (I could never kill him).

As I got to the end the realisation started to dawn on me that the chances of seeing Queen Anora were getting fewer and fewer.  She never turned up.  Oh but maybe Trespasser?  Nope, just Teagan with a face & personality transplant.

I have to admit I'm upset about that.  I'm assuming it didn't happen because you only meet the Ruler of Ferelden in 'In Hushed Whispers'?  Is that right?

Now not meeting Anora isn't the end of the world, but in my canon world my warden married Alistair and they rule together.  I can't wait to see him again, see how he's doing, and hear him mention her.  However in my canon world my heroes are reluctantly pro-templar.  This means I would never see him.  Serious pouting going on here guys.  Yes I could change and go pro-mage but that's not the narrative of that world (I have 4, each with certain prejudices and...whatever the opposite of prejudices is...derp)

How is that fair?  Why block you if you chose the Templars?  I expected a visit to Skyhold at some point instead, that would make the content available to all.

That and the fact that my Warden left Redcliffe to burn without any visible repercussions as far as I could tell.  I thought 'well I have to do it once'.  It sucked but I did it, hoping it would change something in DAI, but nope, not that I could see.

I loved the game, it was great, and so many wonderful things happened.  But those 2 points smudge it a bit for me.  :(

Please tell me that I wrong and she was hiding in the privy the whole time and I just forgot to click on her.   :D

Sorry to tell you but that is the way of it.  The monarch of Ferelden, either Alistair, Anora or both, turns up at Redclifffe Castle only if you do Hushed Whispers.   In fact, of course, you never enter to castle if you do Champions of the Just.   Alistair will also appear instead of Stroud or Loghain  if he is still in the Wardens.

The Warden never appears at all.   You just get a letter from them.   I haven't done my run through with my Prince Consort Cousland yet but I assume the only difference is what is stated in the letter.   In all cases I believe they are off looking for a cure for the taint.

As for Redcliffe, it says how it has largely been rebuilt since the 5th Blight, since much of it was destroyed by the darkspawn attack at the end of Origins, so even if you abandoned it to the undead in Origins, it will have been restored and have new inhabitants.   Apart from Connor and Teagan, I don't recall that you can meet anyone you were familiar with from Redcliffe in Origins, so whether you saved it or not is probably only reflected in codices and possibly some random NPC bad mouthing the Warden for their lack of assistance.

Thank you for that.  Now I'm sad   :(

Seriously though, I don't think it's right.  It isn't giving enough respect to your Origins world.  I was so interested to see how my 4 would turn out as each have different monarch/warden combos, but now I'll only experience a portion of it.

I ran around Redcliffe a few times, no one mentioned the destruction.  I thought at least there would be ruined building or a smaller settlement, maybe Lloyd or Bella or the blacksmith being mentioned.  Guess not  *shrugs*.

You can see the ruins of old Redcliffe if you look across the broken bridge over the river below the watermill near the entrance to the village. But other than that, no one mentions the destruction except Connor if you speak with him down by the docks in Redcliffe.

If Connor survives but Redcliffe was abandoned in DA:O, is his dialogue different in DA:I? Does anyone know? Would he be like, "Who are all these people?" referring to Redcliffe's new inhabitants? I was pretty surprised that the village could recover so quickly.

To the OP, as already said, Alistair/Anora won't make an appearance on the templar path. Sorry. I never liked the way they show up fashionably late after the Inquisition does all the hard work anyway.

It's been ten years. Between Eamon and Teagan, they would have offered incentives for people to settle at Redcliffe; less tithes, etc. With Alistair on the throne, they could also levy for economic aid, a waive of taxes for a couple of years or a trade off.

Most DAO and DA2 chars are just there to show they existed, that they're connected to DAI events by the thinnest thread. They do nothing else which to me, is poor story weaving. So much for tapestry.

I don't know as Connor was dead.   :(

It was odd to me that Arl Teagan would drop the ball in the Hinterlands and get it in to such a mess that the Inquisition would have to come clean up (not to mention then turning that in to some kind of 'invasion' in Trespasser).  So if Alistair/Anora only turn up at the end too then that's super disappointing.

Yes, but I'd have like some acknowledgment that this is indeed the same place, that if it was abandoned the pain of that night would still haunt the people.  Or the settlement would be smaller, tainted, scarred, something.  Anything.

I felt like I fixed Ferelden, and was so excited to go back there and see what had happened to it since.  Not cameos from characters, nice as they are, but the actually world being a little different here and there.  But no.  Too much to ask apparently.   If they'd cut out a zone and spent the time making Ferelden more dynamic it would have been a nod and a bow to all of us who love DA:O.
