I swear. Seeing the exclamation mark i thought something happened.

Also, i wholeheartedly agree. His writing of Ser Michel, Duke Gaspard and the fall of Clan Virnehn was beautiful.

Solas' concept and over arching narrative was developed by Gaider, and Weekes is writing him. I guess you could say Solas is co-written.

I agree that Weekes is amazeballs. I'm reading The Palace Job now.

Where did you learn this?

The wiki says "heavy input from David Gaider" and I'm pretty sure Weekes mentioned this in more detail in his Nerd Appropriate interview. I'm glad you ask because now that you do I don't remember precisely where I heard this (I'm pretty sure it's in the interview but it has been a while since I last listened to it). I wish the wiki had a link to that claim.

The Palace Job is a wonderful novel, including its sequel. Some serious Terry Pratchett and even Douglas Adams in there, plus comparatively well-written action scenes.

If that hasn't sold you, one of the major characters is a hammer.

This gives me mixed feelings about Weekes, while Solas is marvelous, the best character by far, IB and Cole are probably the worst characters by far. Unless you have never seen a light BDSM enthusiast or an autistic person (with schizophrenic speech) they have little to nothing to offer, they don't cause love or hate, or anything for that matter. Usually I can't bring myself to take decisions that goes against my beliefs (in DAO and DA2 I never managed to side with the templars) but Bull is so shallow written that I even managed to kill the Chargers in one of my playthroughs even thinking it is completely heartless. Bull story is way too shallow to make me feel anything. As for Cole, his struggles have been discussed in fantasy so many times it became just tiresome, and his personality even more so.

To be fair, the whole BDSM thing is not really apparent unless you bother to romance him, otherwise it's just not a part of the character experience. As for Cole, I didn't really make the connection to autism. I thought it was the writer's way of making him more alien than the rest of the companions, speaking in how others feel rather than expressing his own personal thoughts.

I hated the plot armour on Briala in The Masked Empire, that was the worst part >.> Briala is a pretty awful character compared to the others, I hated seeing her in the game she should've been killed off in the book imo.

Cole never struck me as having anything to do with autism; in the way of decidedly providing a form of representation for autistic people. Unless of course you choose to make that comparison and then declare it flawed.

The way spirits are, or how they speak etc. is a concept the writers developed for the franchise (which of course doesn't mean every aspect of it is 100% original) and I found it very interesting to develop a character on the inside of this set spectrum.

Eehhh...IB and Cole? I can't imagine the same writer did Solas and those two. I didn't like IB or Cole either. :/ But I also feel like it is probably a matter of how those characters were edited more than anything. And the Freddie Prince Jr voice. If they had Sten's kind of voice for Iron Bull the impression may have been better.

I like Solas and Cole but IB seems like he doesn't fit in the time period or game, at all. Prince's voice is one reason and another reason is that it seems so obvious to me, that IB is supposed to smash all our expectations of what someone like him is supposed to represent. Everything about him seems forced and fake. When it comes to romance...never!

I just finished all 5 books and enjoyed them because of their connections to the games. I can't help thinking Gaspard, Briala, and Celene are all horrible people who will always put "the game" ahead of individuals/people. Still, I enjoyed the books but wish there was some other way to resolve things when it comes to picking a leader of Orlais. I guess that's politics though...often none of the choices are good and you have to try to pick the best of the bad.

The Masked Empire was far superior to the other DA books in my opinion.

I look forward to what Mr. Weekes will do with the DA franchise.

Mr. Weekes... can I request less magic and more story?

Can I request that ALL  the companions while out exploring , stand still when in dialogue with other people. It's so annoying when they keep running around in circles in front of you.
